A nice lager especially if your fishing...
No but really its generally an easy to drink beer, with a little bit of a homemade feel , but not drastically different from your house lager.
If its the same price as your local mexican lager, I would buy it first.

Canned 2.19.22, opened 4.8.22
Can sent to me by the wildly thoughtful and gracious @snaotheus to tick off Idaho from my states list , poured into a Carlsberg Pilsener glass
Thick creamy white foam cap over a slightly gazed golden beer, some occasional carbonation bubbles , spotty lacings
Aroma is bready
Taste is bready , biscuity
Mouthfeel is clean, crisp, desert dry finish
Nice beer, not worth driving to Idaho to sip one but appreciate @snaotheus efforts in grabbing me this one

12oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Dated 07/19/21. Bought it in August at the brewery. Languished in my fridge since flying home from New Mexico.
Pours clear dark golden with a small head. Smell is very mild, mostly lager yeast, a little grain tea, slight floral sweetness.
Taste is fairly sweet, somewhat floral, mostly grain tea, maybe just a hint of citrus sweetness. Mild grassiness.
Mouthfeel is light leaning toward medium. Overall, it's decent. Nothing to get excited about, not something to avoid.

One of the better craft lagers that we've tried so far on the show. Crisp, light, oddly sweet, and crushable, while lacking the pissy flavor that accompanies most mass produced American lagers.

i am never going to be a beer drinker who gets excited about a vienna lager, it just isnt my style, but this one is well made, drier than most, and another solid offering from payette in a classic style, these guys seem to do this kind of thing well every time, and i see why this is popular. its a little lighter than a lot of them too, not as amber in color, and not so full bodied. i rarely find the style refreshing, but this one approaches it, with relative dryness and a lot of carbonation, not so much malt linger, and a pretty fast finish. the malt is the main flavor agent, as the yeast profile is quite light and there really are no hops to speak of. its toasted and harvesty to me, but its never heavy, and the flash of honey sweetness in the middle of the flavor fades rather quickly. some light nuttiness here gives it some depth without the crystal malt intensity. the issue for me is that this is just a bit dull, it tastes like beer, and i can appreciate it as a vienna lager, but its not very nuanced or interesting, just real understated malty lager. there probably isnt a beer drinker in the world who wouldnt suck down a can of this, but there probably also arent a whole lot who would get too aroused over it...
edit: apparently this has new yeast in it now, and it definitely seems a little more old world german to me in this form, and it is certainly drier than it used to be, perhaps more drinkable and maybe seems like more of a bittering hop finish than i recall, the same beer but with more yeast flavor and better overall proportions, a good tweak by any measure. increasing a few scores to reflect the improvement!
edit: put one of these in a cocktail smoker with apple wood smoke last night and wow! what a crazy flavor experience. these guys should seriously consider a smoked version, and heavily smoked at that, i know itd be a whole new beer, but these flavors and textures seem to be begging for it! next level

12 oz can- Pours mostly clear with little particles floating about and a medium white head. Aroma is somewhat tart, clean, a touch of wheat, not what you'd expect a vienna lager to taste like. The taste is similar, clean, crisp, lightly tart, fruity without being sweet, the malt presents itself with each sip. Not bad, but not what i was expecting.

Beautiful bright gold color with white cap.
Aroma of mild malt and floral, spicy hops.
Taste is a good deal richer and deeper that the scent. A malt forward fullness backed up by the hops. The malt is slightly sweet and the hops (18 IBU) are subtle, simple flavors that come together well. Finishes malty and slightly sweet.
Medium texture with balancing carbonation.
A super clean, malty rounded lager that I could pair with almost any style of food. If I lived in the distribution area I would have this often.

Dark gold to amber in color, off-white head. Aroma is pilsner and/or munich malt; Earthy, and a little doughy. Flavor is more on the toasted, bread crust side; rich, sweet malt flavor. Subtle, earthy hop flavor at the end. The body is creamy and smooth but finishes dry. Clean and easy to drink.

This Vienna-style lager pours bright gold with a foamy head. Nose is very clean with a soft malty aroma. Mouthfeel is smooth, crisp and creamy with a slight chew. Sweet malts with a toasted cereal grain note, some breadiness and hint of grape fruitiness that segues into a thin bitterness with light herbal flavors that lingers. Slightly buttery and crackery in the finish.
Fuller than traditional examples, and certainly flavorful, but this drinks and finishes more like an ale.

Pale golden color, thick white head that lasts all of 12 seconds. Subtle aroma, lightly sweet and sort of buttery, with maybe a hint of orange juice. The flavor is hard to describe... Sort of like a watered down Chardonnay. Buttery with some white grape. Overall it's a little blah.

First had this out of a 12oz can someone else opened and gave me a sip. I perked up, as it has a very unique flavor, and quickly planned on finding where to get more. Wanted to visit the brewery in Idaho on my way back to Utah from Oregon, but ended up driving through Idaho in the middle of the night so was disappointed that I couldn't grab any to bring back home. Thankfully, a friend was visiting Idaho last week and she brought me a 6 pack, so here we go (:.
Pours out with a nice head, but it's brief. As I always say, I don't believe that to be a bad thing, necessarily. Clear yellow/amber color. The aroma doesn't bite at the nose, but almost eases its way to your senses as you take a deep breath. Malt taste is more prevalent, as it's very smooth and almost has a creamy-like feel going down and afterwards. Very drinkable. The hop is there, but just very a subtle touch of it. Overall, I really do like this beer, it's better on the colder side, and I wish I could get it locally.
