Pours bright pink with a thin soda like white head. This doesn't look like a beer. It looks like pink lemonade.

Smell is pretty much like a paleta. Its disconcerting. Again, nothing like a beer, but its good for what its trying to do?

Taste has notes of guava and and a light cream flavor. Its interesting. Pretty refreshing.

Feel is light, refreshing, decently carbonated.

This is a weird weird beer. However, for what its trying to do, its actually solid.

12 oz. clear glass bottle, no bottled on date present. A new one to me from 5 Rabbit Cerveceria, acquired a single bottle of this oddity from the local beer store. Paletas Guyaba. "Wheat beer with guava and spices". 3.50% abv.

Poured into a miniature Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale snifter.

A - It looks like a strawberry-banana fruit juice in the bottle, and pours the same with about a finger of dense pinkish-white foam that sticks around for a while. Some minor bubbly white lacing sticks behind. Very unique and interesting appearance.

S - A fresh, fruity, funky, & authentic guava fruit aroma. Smells like a freshly prepared guava smoothie. A very minor herbal spice rack note is present when I look for it.

T - Tastes like what it is really, a carbonated fruit juice / beer blend. No real tartness or sour is present, but fresh & fruity, to be damn sure. Authentic guava fruit juice dominates, with minor notes of bread malts & yeast funk are present in the finish. Though the taste pales in comparison to the aroma, really.

M - A very smooth and easy-drinking beer. Light-bodied with good carbonation. Very easy-drinking stuff, but don't expect to catch a buzz. Very clean and dry on the palate. Gone in an instant, and it definitely has you craving another sip.

Overall, a unique beer creation from 5 Rabbit. I would definitely have multiple of these on a hot summer day, and I will be on the lookout for others.

5 Rabbit Paletas Guyaba -----4/5.

16 oz can. Pours a light pink with a large creamy white head. Aroma is some wheat malt and a light fruit juice. Flavor has more of the guava and some peppercorn. Pretty light all around with very little mouth feel. It did have a decent flavor of guava juice but not much beyond that.

On tap at The Owl, served in a pint glass. Got the last pint apparently. Hazy orange body, compact layer of foam with minimal spotty lace.

Aroma is pure guava, wink wink, its a fairly restrained fruitiness, but really nice.

Taste is light and dry with some juicy passionfruit up front. Very easy drinking and sessionable, something different that would do well in six packs.

Finally a decent session fruit beer that isn't a shitty wheat beer with fruit extract.

On-tap at King's Table, Beavercreek, OH

A: The beer is ver hazy whitish yellow in color. It poured with a thin bright white head that died down but never completely faded away and left lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of guava fruit are present in the nose.
T: The taste is like a watered down version of guava juice but doesn't have any of the associated sweetness. The guava flavors seem a little weaker compared to the smell.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This one is pretty good for a guava beer as it isn't sweet or gimmicky. I just wish that the flavors could have been a little stronger.

From batch canned 4/28/17. Pours a cloudy pink-orange with one finger of creamy white head that settles to a thin ring, streaks of lace down the glass. Hey, it's a beer! Smell: wheat cracker, coriander overdrive, guava. Not as much guava as one might expect or hope for. Taste: guava, creamsicle, coriander, wheat cracker. Light bodied, creamy carbonation, quick finish. Refreshing. This works, though not the best guava beer by far.

The bottled beer seems to have a bit more of a pepper spice and yeast character in the scent than the beer I had on tap at the brewery. It is noticeable in the flavor as well. It doesn't make a big difference, but it gives the beer a more dry finish.

On tap at Standard Market in Westmont. Served in a 5 Rabbit tulip pint glass.

Pours a light pinkish color with a white head. Good retention and a bit of lacing. Nose carries a good dose of the guava along with a faint wheat presence in the background. Similar flavor. Lightly tart with prominent guava. Light wheat backbone. Light and extremely refreshing. Looking forward to the next two beers in the series.

Taste: Slight sour grapefruit and a hint of guava juice, not much wheat taste, clean finish. Funky nose, with some grapefruit fermented notes. Pink hue, unfiltered, with tall pinkish head and some ring lattice. Lite body. Just not my taste.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Bubble gum pink with a one-finger head that slowly settles
S: Guava and wheat
T: Pretty bland. Like guava-flavored sparkling water along with a bit of grass
M: Light-bodied, plenty of carbonation
O: Unique, fairly refreshing, just not that complex

Apparently the naysayer here, but this stuff is just not good; comes across like little more than a carbonated water (like Perrier) with a hint of fruity flavor (and not very realistic fruity flavor either). Still better than the macros, but just not good. One review said "best fruit beer I have tried so far"....I suggest you try New Glarus Raspberry Tart or Founders Blushing Monk (another raspberry) to discover what a great fruit beer can be (or try Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin, a phenomenal take on a classic). A friend described this as "goat piss"....I wouldn't go that far, but I sure wouldn't recommend's just very flat from a flavor perspective. The coloring's weird, but I don't count that against it (more a novelty point than anything there), with a little carbonation, minimal head, but the flavor's just too "not there," and not real fruity, for this to be considered worth buying again.
