A-Sampled at Extreme Beer Fest. Pours a dark brown.
S-The base Quadrupel isn't overly taints with in the nose. I picked up the dark, dried-out fruits, zesty Belgian yeast and sugary sweetness without any trouble. However, there is a sort of funkiness to it.
T-The flavor was more influenced by the wine barrel. The barrel added some light woodiness and a mildly tart, red wine character. Then comes the base beer; a tried and true Quad flavor.
M-Full bodied. Alcohol isn't aggressive enough for me to notice much. Softer carbonation.
O/D-Quads are far from my favorite style so I welcome the addition of a wine barrel here. They did a really good job. Still would love to try their hoppy beers.
