Traded for this a while ago and finally got around to it tonight, as I've been going through my stash here at home. The Head High and Overhead are still Kane's best IPA's but this wasn't terribly far behind those, as it was balanced, easy to drink, and hit the alcohol well. It just reminded me a bit too much of the Waimea Punch!
The pour to this was decent as the beer had a golden, hazy hue to it with plenty of head to top it off. Not a lot of lacing on the collar but quite a bit of it could be seen in the middle of my pint glass as I worked my way through this. Lots of tangerine, passion fruit, lychee, and floral hops in the understated nose as they all came through in the taste. The Vienna and Pilsner malt countered those well as this had a slightly dry mouthfeel to go along with the soft and tropical hop presence. Once again, this beer felt like Hawaiian Punch with a bit more body to it and a soft bitterness that kicked in once this fully went down. Enough carbonation, a moderate juicy slickness, and very little sediment ensured that the flavors would shine through as this warmed up.
The alcohol in this was quite hidden as I only felt a bit of warming once I finished it off. Canned on 8/4/17, this was a decent beer that tasted a bit too exotic for me to fully appreciate, but was pleasant to sip nevertheless. Glad that they're finally canning as the bottles are just a bit too much for me at times!

I had this at the brewery. It was served in a goblet. It pours a hazy, bright golden color with a half finger of fluffy, bright white head and lacing. The nose is fruit forward: lemon, grapefruit, and tangerine, with pine needles, aromatic hops, and subtle vanilla. The taste opens with lemon and sweet citrus and a hint of the Vienna and Pilsner malts. But its the hops that shine. The combination of the Nelson Sauvin and Waimea provide lots of character. It features and medium body with pleasant carbonation and I didn't find the 8% ABV distracting. Overall, this is a fine DIPA although I prefer good old Overhead.
