Brut IPA brewed Amarillo, Cascade, and Citra with a ridiculous amount of Peach and Blood Orange. Inspired by brunch cocktails like Bellinis and Mimosas, we brewed it with a simple malt bill of pilsner and added flaked rice to lighten the body and add a subtle coconut creaminess to the flavor. We added a small amount of cascade to the whirlpool, then fermented on over 2lbs per gallon of peaches and ½ lbs per gallon of blood oranges. Black Tie Optional fermented to 0 degrees Plato for an extremely dry finish that really allows all that fruit to shine. We dry-hopped with Amarillo and Citra to compliment the fruit and tie all the flavors together.

perhaps the first non dark and enormous beer i have had from kane, i figured they had to make some of them, i just have never encountered any! also the first time i have seen their stuff in colorado! hopefully a sign of things to come, but falling rock gets a lot of cool random beer, so who knows if they actually plan to send more. the menu didnt mention peach at all, but one smell of this pale hazy brew and i knew it was spiked with ripe peach, the aroma its so intensely peach forward, even before the hops for me, its amazingly fresh and natural, super bold, and also really compatible with the hops they have selected for it. the flavor is as compelling as the nose, especially on the peaches, so obvious and awesome, very summery to me. citra hops all over it too, a great hop dosage and schedule on this. i dont get as much of the blood orange, but i dont miss it, i like the peach being way out in front. cool grain base too, cerealy and dry, fluffy feeling but light, and well enough carbonated too. overall this is juicy and delicious, one of the better fruited ipa types i have had in ages, and honestly a pretty surprising beer, unique for sure. i think they nailed it. its cool that these guys are seemingly as good at this sort of thing as they are the barrel aged monsters. this is so good!

Bright and hazy yellow that generated a nice amount of head but it dissipated very quickly and there is no circle of foam or lacing the glass. Smell is a little muted but there is sweet citrus, hints of honey. Tastes of sour fruit, lychee, kiwi. Smooth but the brut adds a nice dry finish.

Canned on 8/20/2019 so about a month old when reviewed. Poured into tulip glass. It pours a pale, golden-yellow color and sports a thin milk-white cap and a sheen of spotty, like-colored lacing. It features the unique smell of brux yeast, along with lemon, white wine, and a whiff of orange. The taste opens like a typical Brut IPA: dry and sour with lemon and white wine grapes but there is a nicely balancing sweetness of orange and peach. I wonder whether the fruitiness was even stronger when fresh. Its feel is light and crisp, as expected, with pleasant carbonation reminiscent of prosecco, and with a temperate ABV of 6.4% it's highly drinkable. Overall, while I'm not the biggest fan of this style, I think Black Tie Optional is the best Brut IPA brewed in New Jersey that I've tasted.

First brut IPA. Nice ripe citrus notes with a champagne-like finish. Tasty.

Moderate pour yields a 1/2 inch white head over a hazy body with some lacing. Nose of tropical fruit (peach) and sweet citrus (blood orange.) Taste mirrors nose very nicely with a real nice feel; and overall? It's nice! No, a real nice Brut IPA right here, great finish, and I'm glad for this new take (and style!) on IPAs. Cheers!

A really interesting novelty beer. Peach and blood orange added, and flaked rice gives the beer a champagne lightness. But then there's an overlay of hops. So there's beer and an almost wine-like (think gose) balance. This is what makes Kane a New Jersey treasure.

The weakest of my flight of four, all the others stunning. Love this brewer.
A) Mimosa like fruit body of lemon yellow cloud, with addition of fruit you lose the lace and head quickly.
S) Likewise the fruit sometimes masks or modulate the nose, as here, but distinct citrus, lemon, orange. Blindfolded you might guess orange juice.
T) A stand out from our first weak impressions. Powdery, citric, tangy - but too unidemenisional. If you like Mimosas (I dont) this beer’s for you. Peaches took a turned turn so slightly off or overripe there.
F) Powdery, chalky, citric, acidic - less so than wine, more like instant OJ
O) I’ll take a pass but well built for its intention.

Pours a hazy light straw color, moderate fizzy head that fades quickly. Lots of citrus hop aroma: lemon, grapefruit, some peach. Light bodied and crisp, very fruity - the peaches really come through. Nice light hop flavor, very effervescent. Overall a fun beer, 1 4-pack is enough.
