We took the same base beer but pulled off a portion and added marshmallows to the whirlpool. Because of the sugar added from the marshmallow this variant is 10.2% ABV. Following fermentation we conditioned this imperial stout on freshly toasted coconut and Madagascar vanilla bean.

Pours black with two fingers of khaki foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is marshmallows, vanilla bean, toasted coconut, caramel, molasses and roasty, toasty, nutty malts. It's sugary sweet right from the git-go, with marshmallows and vanilla bean creating a semi-cloying, sugary front end. Flavor profile is vanilla bean, toasted coconut, cocoa nibs, chocolate, molasses, caramel and marshmallows. It's not quite as sweet in the flavor profile thanks to more robust notes of roasty and toasty malts, although the finishing marshmallow drags the balance further towards sweet. Mouth feel is lightly velvety, but breaks apart to reveal a more gritty texture. Overall, big and sweet with a pleasant stout underneath.
Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 16oz can.

Coffee black (brown) with a tall dense tan foam settling to a thin blanket leaving all kinds of camo lacing.
All the added flavoring components seem to have developed a sharper and boozier taste and feel overall. The smooth medium-thin body is lightly crisp and tingly, delivering semi-bitter notes of charred coffee and underlying brown sugar, but kind of burnt. I don't get vanilla, marshmallow, or coconut at all, but the burning, boozy swallow finishing slightly sticky does leave an impression, and not a good one.
This is obviously my least favorite Omna, but it's a major disappointment standing on its own too, considering how much I love all their dark beers in general.
