A blend of two different rye barrel-aged barleywines and a rye barrel-aged wheatwine that was racked into 600 Liter Pineau des Charentes casks to finish for six months. We then blended the casks together, cold conditioned in stainless for three months and bottled what turned out to be a truly rich and complex beer.

Copper-colored pour, the underlying bite of rye, caramel flavor comes through. I'm a big fan of Kane wheatwine, and this beer didn't quite achieve those heights. But I hear this is the start of a Stacking Cask series by Kane, and I'm already pumped for the next one.

Very little head production, with decent retention. Unsurprising for the style. Deep brown body with a cola-like top.
Big boozy nose, equal part sweet grape and rich caramel barleywine. Toffee, brown sugar, oak, must, pine, tobacco, chocolate, vanilla.
Very similar on the palate: sweet and rich, but not like a dessert beer. Rather, alcohol, rye whiskey, grapes, and tons of caramel malt all come together in a big, bold, thick package. Remarkably good, with pine and a touch of citrus from the hops adding just a touch of balance and more than a little assertiveness. Moderate-to-high bitterness.
You can certainly feel the booze on the palate, but it's never oppressive. Thick and full bodied, with some sting and some alcohol heat.
Phenomenal, incredible beer. Really satisfying, very impressive.

Dark brick red to brown, not quite becoming black at full pour, building a short tan blanket settling to a thin film leaving some wobbly spots of lace.
Sweet grapey Port and other mature red wines pair with fig, pecan, and touches of very dark, rich caramel. A dusty oaky character peppers a rye booze that gracefully vanishes quickly, allowing a powerfully luscious vanilla aroma to develop as it warms.
The body is a slick medium with a perfectly soft crispness, finishing semi-sticky.

This is a blend of two rye barrel aged barleywines & a rye barrel aged wheatwine. Poured a dark copper. Aroma was quite sweet. Complex taste of caramel, cocoa and the rye. A bit thin for my tastes. Overall, an outstanding start to the Stacking Cask series.
