Whale Pond was hopped with New Zealand Motueka in the whirlpool and dry-hopped with more Motueka and Amarillo. This hop blend brings citrus, lime and tropical fruit notes to an extremely drinkable and balanced blonde ale packed with flavor.

Pours an opaque honey mustard color with a fast receding foamy white head, smell is mostly neutral with some grainy scent. Taste some lemon, hops and grains with a really minimal malt balance, if at all. Feels crisp and semi dry but seems sort of out of balance. There is a definite hop presence but no malt taste? I bought 3 of these 4 packs so I am going to have to get used to it. It is not terrible but actually seems like they forgot an ingredient (Malt) I think the previous reviewer calls this a failure because of a "soapy finish" Actually it the lack of any perceivable malt. Which is not good. I agree with Jeff I would call this a failure. I just rated their Vienna Lager which was stellar-

Can to snifter. Sampling of 5 new NJ cans on a lazy sunday afternoon.
LOOK: murky yellow, healthy off white head. good retention.
AROMA: Plantain, hay, apple. interesting mix,
TASTE: beer goes south here. some hoppy citrusy notes up front(some lemon, touch of apple), which give optimism, but the finish is soapy, detergent, banana peel, .
FEEL: light body, minimal carbonation,
not my cup of tea, aroma gave some optimism, but ultimately this is a fail. soapy finish is a big deterrent.

Slightly hazy straw yellow with a persistent fluffy white head slowly settling to a solid film leaving tall thin walls of lace all around the glass.
Peppery toasted cracker and soft white wheat fill the fluffy round body accented by lightly dank hops and a little corn bread before the semi-bitter swallow comes to a semi-dry finish.
This is really nice, reminding me of Hill Farmstead's Nelson Pale.

Had on tap at Kane. Nice blonde color to match the beer and very flavorful. For some reason, I can't quite pin down some of the flavors I'm getting, but I'm still really enjoying this beer. Maybe some different kinds of malts? Either way, it's another strong offering from Kane, and one that cements their status as one of the top NJ brewers.

So it's summer. You like IPAs, but its hot and sunny. You want your hops, but don't want a brain-bleeding abv. Enter Whale Pond, with thirst-quenching bitterness courtesy of Motueka and Amarillo. But it's also a blonde ale, always a summertime refresher. Double your summer pleasure. With a tame 5% abv, go to the beach with Whale Pond, and have yourself a day!

Pours a light to medium straw color, abundant white fluffy head that slowly recedes. Aroma is light and earthy, slight dankness, wry flavorful for a 5% beer. Light bodied, crisp, great blond base, nice light hoppy bite to it. Creamy feel. Overall a very enjoyable hoppy blonde, great summer beer, love the 5% abv.
