Very unusual color (caramel brown/tan) was a foreshadowing of sweetness to follow. Very little head, and fairly full-bodied. The beer went through three stages for me. At first, sweet, with caramel, molasses and even butterscotch creeping through. As it warmed, cognac became much more prominent, and flavor headed toward booziness. After warming a bit more (this is a sipping beer at 13% abv), booze receded and sweetness came back to the fore.

Pours a cloudy dark caramel, nice foamy head that fizzles quickly, leaving a small ring around the glass. Fantastic aroma - dark dried fruits, caramel, molasses, butterscotch, boozy, port wine. Flavor is fruitier than the bourbon and rye variants, a bit lighter bodied and boozier. Full bodied, creamy texture. Overall a very enjoyable variant, I find the bourbon variant the most flavorful.

L: Agressive pour yielding a two finger light tan head with fine bubbles that lingered for a couple minutes
S: Strong caramel nose teasing me. No booze/heat coming through on the nose. Can't wait to try it
T: The cognac showed up and left the heat at home. Caramel present but not as prominent as in the nose
F: A touch thin and a touch overcarbed for my liking if I were to nit pick
O: Kane continues to prove themselves to be top notch and one of if not my favorite with their stouts & bws
