To create this version, we took a portion of the Rye Whiskey barrel-aged stock after about 8 months in the barrels and double barrel-aged it for 5 months in a Calvados cask that we received from Normandy, France. The resulting beer is 14% and boasts a ton of unique characteristics, with layers of soft apple and caramel.

Bottle to snifter. Thanks to Kane for delivering during this crazy situation.
One day after having the Rye Barrel version, I am busting out the Apple Brandy.
See Rye Barrel Driftwood review for basic details.
Differences are:
AB aging has cut the sweetness (a positive; I had assumed the opposite).
AB aging has made the mouth feel much more smooth.
Maybe the nose has suffered a bit, but overall it's a much more balanced beer.
