Open Water was first released in September of 2018 as an single IPA, but for this batch we scaled it up to a 10.4% Triple IPA. Open Water is a traditional Triple IPA brewed with a simple malt bill of pilsner, dextrose and a small amount of crystal malts. Chinook and El Dorado were layered throughout the boil for bitterness with El Dorado and Simcoe added to the whirlpool. It was fermented dry for a crisp finish and then dry-hopped with Citra, Chinook, Simcoe, and Galaxy. Open Water brings big pine and resinous flavors with citrus and grapefruit aroma in a surprisingly drinkable Triple IPA.

This is the Triple IPA version, 10.4%. Not to be confused with the original version of the same name that is 7.5% abv. Why confuse us like that Kane?

Can to snifter. (canned 5/6/20)

LOOK: bright gold-yellow, a little hazy, big creamy white head which fades quick, but resurfaces easily.
AROMA: cracker, baking soda, grass, hint of citrus.
TASTE: Heavy malt backbone that mixes in with a mix of citrus and tropical fruit. Finish is a lot of alcohol heat with some bitter grassy flavors and lime.
FEEL: Heavy feel. Alcohol gives burn.

Monster IPA. Certainly has a kick. Flavors are not all up my alley, but this is well crafted. Much better than the retired Kane single IPA by the same name.
