A full-bodied Imperial Stout brewed with bourbon barrel-aged local honey. We used a Pilsner base and a blend of crystal, chocolate and roasted malts in the mash and boiled the wort down all day to concentrate the sugars. We added local honey that we aged in a bourbon barrel to the whirlpool to further increase the gravity and add another layer of flavor. Nightmare At Sea is a big, sweet Imperial Stout that can be slowly enjoyed over time.

@TheGent sent me this imperial stout from Kane. Appearance is jet black, slick with some darker tan head. Aroma is toasty with bitter dark chocolate. Taste is bitter dark chocolate up front with some great honey sweetness on the back end. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Overall I’d dig this again in a heartbeat. Thanks Anthony!

Pours pitch black, impervious to light. Minimal head. Aroma is mainly yeast with light chocolate. Very unique flavor, still a bit too much yeast flavor, the barrel aged honey really shines Through. Full bodied feel. Overall a really fun beer.

Can to snifter.
LOOK: dark thick black, medium tan head that fades. Excellent retention on return. Looks creamy.
AROMA: roasted malt, char, hint of honey, grass.
TASTE: cocoa powder, coffee, mix of roasted malt and raw barley. There is an almost minty freshness that I am guessing is the combination of some sweet flavors from the honey mixed with some wood and whiskey from the aging. If I didn't know better I might guess that it was aged in Irish Whiskey Barrels.
FEEL: super smooth, full body, subtle but strong carbonation...almost fells nitro-esque.
Enjoying this more as I am getting through it. Poured cold and sipping slowly to allow warming.
Very nice interesting stout and also different from Kane's usual style of stouts and porters.

Solid imperial stout. Nothing too exciting or elaborate going on with this beer but its certainly not bad. Pretty sweet and slightly boozy. 4/5.
