This year the second bottle is 3288, a Barrel-Aged German Chocolate Imperial Stout. This complex blend of hand-picked barrel-aged imperial stouts, with an average barrel residence of over 22 months, was conditioned it on Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans, cacao nibs from Ghana, Uganda, and Ecuador, and freshly toasted pecans and coconut. The character from the barrels blends perfectly with the sweet chocolate, creamy vanilla and toast from the nuts to create a rich and decadent beer.

10 November 2021 - Beer #251

Price: $20.00 at the brewery

Appearance: 4 - poured extremely black, but with absolutely no head.

Nose: 4 - this is very subtle. A little vanilla, a little chocolate, a little barrel. Where's that blast I crave?

Taste: 5 - There it is. What's wonderful about this beer is that there is SO much flavor, but besides the barrel everything is blended so well.

Mouth: 5 - the definition of luscious, of decadence. The mouthful is just luxurious. Silky smooth and thick at the same time.

Overall: 5 - dare I say, better than ANTEAD.

Cheers!

I have never seen a beer pour this thick. Impenetrably black. Aroma is liquid chocolate. Amazing. Flavor is chocolate. Waves of chocolate. Pecan is noticeable, vanilla is sweet, coconut seems to have faded. So thick - thickest beer I have ever had. .

Bottle to snifter. Watching friendly USMNT vs. El Salvador.

LOOK: dark black, small medium brown head. retention is difficult with such body.
AROMA: Bourbon, cocoa, brown sugar.
TASTE: dark chocolate, bourbon and oak. fudgy. light hints of vanilla, coconut, palm oil. sticky sweet. abv is subtle up front, but builds and felt strong in finish.
FEEL : full bodied. below average carbonation, but OK for the style and thickness. sticky.

very nice stout blend. lots of character.

bottle to Snifter, watching leh-laf from the couch.

Still amazing after 5 years in the cellar.

AROMA: plenty of cocoa, slightly boozy, but mellow.
TASTE: cocoa, fudge still kicking hard. wood, bourbon vanilla are still present and well blended. I now get some licorice flavors that were not noted earlier.

Pouring fairly viscous tar black, this beautiful 2020 anniversary stout has a moderate but dense creamy mocha head.

Pastry elements are present, but its also assertively bold in both barrel character and alcohol punch. An amazing presence of just barely toasted coconut melds classically well with dark chocolate, while remaining in balance with the bourbon barrel and the lightly nutty, lightly roasty accents of the underlying stout.

Fairly thick for a Kane stout, it's delectably chocolatey with additional notes of vanilla creme englaise and a tongue shaving barrel heat.

This is just so deliciously dialed in relative to their previous draft iterations of German Chocolate stouts, which were primarily on offer at beer festivals in the past. It's so immensely smooth and well composed, I'm incredibly happy to have 3 more 500ml bottles of this.

---

In August 2022 , the pecans have become elevated, making this taste nuttier than ever, but in a way that perfectly melds with the other elements, remaining overall amazingly delicious.
