Black with a faint brown line of head. Roasty, sweet smell. Very complex taste, starts with deep roast and malt notes, with some sweetness and roasty bitterness on the end. Chocolate as well. A good balanced booziness with a thick, creamy feel. Only complaint here is that the maple doesn't add much but it is excellent as is.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like creamy vanilla, cake, just a hint of maple, and dark chocolate.
I'd want a bit more barrel on this one, and there's also not a ton of maple. It's still a tasty and well balanced vanilla stout even without these things. I really like the bourbon vanilla flavor on this one, it's deep, complex, and pleasant. There's milk chocolate and dark chocolate as well.
This is medium bodied, and fairly silky, with no real hint of any booze on the palate.
In a historical sense for this series, this is middle of the pack - some of the previous year variants were absolute stunners. This is just pretty good, which is good enough in my book.

Bottle to snifter. Share with DC.
Not quite as superb as the regular or some if the other versions.
Maple is bitter, not really a bad thing because there is enough sweetness to carry, but interesting finish.
