This first release in our Single Cask series is a 12.8% Imperial Milk Porter brewed with maple syrup and aged in a Texas Sotol Cask.
Sotol is a distilled spirit of Mexican origin. Compared to Tequila or Mezcal, it tends to be sweeter and is known for its bright, earthy and mild smoky flavors. The Sotol cask gives this maple porter a bold and slightly sweet finish.
Our Single Cask series will aim to highlight specific flavors and aromas pulled from one unique type of barrel at a time.

Like many of these beers look isn't much to write about black in color, short lived light brown head that leaves a decent ring around the glass.
Nose is very unique; it's got this really distinct woody spice smell to it, sawdust like but from a good smelling wood; along with some mapley chocolate.
The taste throws another curveball as it adds an almost tequila/agave like bite to the aforementioned wood. The maple is very well done; balanced but present and it finishes with a creamy milk chocolate.
It drinks very smooth and creamy; there is minimal heat but it is there in the nasal canal after each sip; it is pleasantly warming. Some char driven bitterness that is very welcome shows on the finish, far from super sweet the maple just gives it a nice finish.

Pours a dark cola brown from the 500ML bottle and settles black in a proper glass with a dark tan head. Absolutely gorgeous beer. The nose is boozy and milk chocolatey and roasty and stone fruity and decadent and rich. Wow.
The rich milk chocolate flavor is immediately up front on the taste, and quickly engaged by the roast and stone fruit - aggressively so. It is the stone fruit that makes this beer for me, as it flows into the warming alcohol at the very back of the palate and doesn’t permit the sweetness to become cloying. Double wow.
The mouthfeel is rich and creamy, substantial enough to match the gravitas of this beer. It is a truly magnificent flavor journey and a truly magnificent beer.

Interesting beer from Kane. Barrel aged Porter, pours dark and thick. Aroma contains a unique booze component from the sotol. I’ve never had it and had to look it up. Taste is slightly sweet and smoky with a bit of booze, along with chocolate Porter malt notes. Mouthfeel not super thick.
