Our newest member of the Head High family. We started with our classic Head High base and then dry-hopped it with even more Citra, Cascade, Chinook, and an added round of Simcoe. For this batch, we used a new type of yeast that brings bright tropical aromas so this already juicy IPA.

I'm lucky enough to live close to the Cloverleaf Tavern as they *always* have Head High on tap. When I saw that this was available in cans, I took the ride down to Kane in January so I could try this here at the house. It's on par with the original iteration as it's plenty flavorful, full-bodied, and oh-so-easy to drink. Indeed, this deserves to be one of their staples as it was something that didn't last in my pint glass for very long!

Like it's regular version, this was plenty cloudy, muted, and golden in hue Enough head topped it off as the lacing left behind was sudsy scattered, and plenty thick. Lots of bright citrus, wheat, and lively hops were in the nose as the taste closely and thankfully followed suit. Some turbid tropical notes, yeast, and star fruit were in the taste as everything worked together harmoniously with a touch of swamp water and dankness in the back that easily left me wanting more.

All of the hops were in good proportion here as this was equally fruity, earthy, and bitter down to the last sip. A bit of alcohol was on my breath when I had the last sip but never did I feel that this was too strong, potent, or was out of proportion. Canned on 1/10, this held up well as it was something I'd easily reach for again and would look forward to having on tap. Kane has proven themselves to be one of the better breweries in these parts and it's offerings like this that show why. So much to like here down to the fitting label for something out of Ocean Township!

Typical hazy look to the NE IPA, although I thought regular Head High was not a NE IPA. Hard to keep track these days. Anyway, I don’t don’t get a huge aroma. Faint citrus. Taste is nice. Tropical, citrus, candy. Nice and thick. But…if we’re going 8.2%, I’d rather have an Overhead. I had this right after a Ripple, and the Ripple at 4.4% had a much bigger aroma and taste. No one in NJ does stouts/porters/barleywines and BA versions better than Kane, but their IPAs aren’t always standouts.
