Pours pitch black, extremely thick, dense reddish brown head. Aroma is mainly chocolate with a touch of red wine. Has a red wine flavor at first, loads of chocolate, cherry cordials. Has an interesting tart quality. Texture is incredibly thick, sludgy, fudgy, love it. Leaves a thick coating on the glass. Overall a very tasty beer.

This is quite different from the 2021 version I tried not long ago. This is 10.7% ABV compared to 14% but the flavor is even more intense somehow. Hard to believe considering what a powerhouse the 2021 was. The 2022 isn't as nuanced though. The molasses is more potent and there is a vaguely soy like umami note that blunts any fruit elements almost entirely. I also get some chocolate around the edges. The bourbon notes are deep and mature while the barrel it called home adds wonderful leather and tobacco. The mouthfeel is thick and sticky, more so than the 2021.

Overall I prefer the 2021 but I am sorry I only bought one bottle of this while I had the chance, it's unique and delicious. Kane continues to amaze.
