When single-sourced with a single distillery barrel, the imperial stout carries a truly unique and highly identifiable signature flavor from that specific bourbon. And that's what Kane's 19-year Old Fitzgerald bourbon barrel aged stout does.
Black like tar and coating the glass with tawny black veil, Quiet Hush of Winter releases a delicate latte froth and a robust perfume of coffee, char, bourbon, caramelized sweetness, caramel, peppery and vanilla in a complex aromatic display. An initial sip commands the tastebuds with molasses, honey, toffee and coconut before extending onto the middle palate with the decadence of chocolate covered espresso bean, smoldering embers and peppery booze. A late taste of Old Fitzgerald bourbon extends with a long after palate of peppery caramel, soothing vanilla and coconut liquor.
Full bodied, off-cloying and truly unique, this hush of a beer screams decadence.
