Citrus Saison with Grapefruit and Orange
Catchin' Some Rays is so bright and sunny you might think you need shades. This saison is super light with beautiful tropical and peppery notes from the warmer yeast fermentation. We also added gallons of citrus juice that perfectly complements the natural aromas of the beer. All around, it's a refreshing new go-to.

This is now my 4th saison from Pipeworks. It is time for me to move on.
Three saisons I've had this year because I thought I would concentrate on them to see how this nine year purveyor of IPAs was learning in the Belgian tradition. But my basic conclusion is that the yeasts Pipeworks uses for their Belgian styles, simply, lack active protein stimulation.
And drank Rays next to an innovative saison from Allagash (you know, those Belgian masters in Maine.) There was no comparison in terms of how each ale went at the table. While Catchin' is refreshing and I would be glad to share if I ever bought one again, I does not have Allagash's basic understanding that saisons are ales for the table.
In reviewing my other Pipeworks' ales, I repeat: Pipeworks should stick to its knitting.
I do give them Very Big OA Hugs for self-distributing in Illinois and trying to beat the system in other states.
