For this rendition of Moment of Clarity, we added an extra dose of extra dark maple syrup. The result is a beer dripping with maple flavor and heavy doses of rich chocolate and coffee. It’s a wonderful and decadent treat that, for us, evokes a yearning for relaxed Sunday mornings with a pile of chocolate chip pancakes.

Pours deep, dark brown. Aroma is incredible - intense maple syrup with strong & complimentary coffee, chocolate & roastiness. Taste follows nose. Really strong sweet maple syrup flavor with roasted malts & intense chocolate. Full mouthfeel (light end). Overall a superior milk stout.

16oz can into a pint glass.

Pours pitch black. Slick, oily. Stringy lace. 1.5 finger mocha colored head with good retention. Nose is big maple aromas. Coffee, cocoa, fudge, and chocolate. Vanilla and sweet cream. Sweet sticky, and robust. Beer opens chocolate, maple syrup, and fudge. Nice balance between sweetness and a bittersweet coarseness. Vanilla, lactose, and sweet cream in the middle and end. Touch of boozy spice in the finish. Chewy and rich. Body is medium to full with low carbonation. Smooth and rich on the palate with low carbonation. Rich and velvety going down. Long, drawn out finish.

Really excellent. The maple infusion is a perfect complement here.

16 oz can dated Spring 2026

Pours pitch black with a frothy brown foam head. Smells like intense chewy maple syrup, chocolate, mocha and roasted coffee. Tastes like super intense extravagant rich sweet maple syrup, marshmallow cream, dark caramel, toffee, brown sugar, dark dried fruit, roasted malts, dark chocolate, mocha, fresh robust coffee, and mild earthy hops. Feels fuller medium bodied, creamy, thick and dense with moderate smooth carbonation. Overall a really nice extra maple syrup chocolate coffee milk stout.

wicked cloyingly sweet. gotta disagree with the guy saying it's restrained. probably great for all the Type II bro's out there. but holy crap is this stuff intense. I could see enjoying a 4oz taster glass. but they come in pint cans. i love a good bowl of junkcereal or iced cream as much as the next guy, but I can't finish this thing. drainpour.

The base beer is such an amazingly sticky chocolate bomb that I almost hesitated on this variant as I couldn't imagine it would be better.

As expected, this was a bit of a downer. The maple notes are particularly potent in the nose. They are also found in the flavor profile, but more muted.

While the maple is an interesting addition, it also overwhelms the flavor notes of the base beer.

Tons of maple syrup on the nose. It is a bit one dimensional after that, although there are notes of coffee and chocolate beneath, along with cream, vanilla, and toffee.

Flavor is very similar, although the maple isn’t quite as dominant, and there are cola-like notes from the malt base.

Winter 2024 release; consumed on 3/28/2024

Pours a motor-oil black body topped with a finger of mocha-hued foam; decent head retention leaves a rocky half-finger of cap, modest, sudsy collar, and limited spatter of webby, soapy lacing holding tentatively across the walls of the glass.

Aromas of soft maple syrup open to tinges of fragrant coffee, with a flaky malt backbone exploring supportive tones of cocoa, black bread, and caramel.

Taste shows dark chocolate interwoven through subtle coffee notes upfront, seeing a maple and milk chocolate evolution over the mid-palate contribute a more marked sweetness in competition with the background roast steadily emerging on the back end of the profile.

Mouthfeel brings a medium-full body amd a lighter fluff of carbonation; slick textures course through distant roast past the mid-palate as semi-stickiness develops over the back end to a thinning finish.

Tepid adjuncts fall short of initial promise, while sweetness is pleasantly restrained for drinkability; decent, though all-in-all a somewhat disappointing effort.

Still don't really get what all the hubbub is about with these Moment of Clarity variants... They are all definitely quite solid and fall in line with many of the other Tree House adjuncted sweet milk stouts, but nothing in particular jumps out as being above and beyond. I do appreciate that the maple that is used is clearly of the 'real' variety, and so even with the extra dose here it doesn't smell or taste like straight up artificial aunt jemima like many of the hyped maple flavored stouts do. Besides that, if you've have any other Tree House milk stout, you know what this one will be like too.
