It's rare that we release an entirely new Fruit Jelly King flavour but today we debut a duo of tropical delights that have never danced the sour/hoppy tango before. Jelly King Prickly Pear and Pink Guava has arrived. It's a delicious mish mash of strawberry, melon, citrus, and pineapple notes in short, fruit punch. Yum.

500 mL bottle from the LCBO; dated Jun 4 2024 and served slightly chilled.
Pours hazy and translucent, its orange-yellow hued body initially crowned with almost an inch of loose, soapy white head. Within a minute it has been reduced to a frothy collar, with stringy lace deposition after each sip - looks fine to me. Funky, fruity aroma comprised of guava, watermelon, lemon, strawberry and floral, citrusy hops, with just a hint of gym bag.
Delicious brew with a good mix of fruity-sweet and tangy-acidic flavours; the balance between these two aspects is exquisite, making for an exceptionally crushable kettle sour. The pink guava does much of the heavy lifting, but I'm also getting strawberry, kiwi and pineapple, with added notes of key lime yogurt and lactic acidity developing later on. Very weak funk factor, with guava, citrus and kiwi reverberating into a tangy aftertaste that lingers a bit. Medium in body, with moderately active carbonation that gently agitates the palate with each sip. Smooth, satisfying mouthfeel, with great drinkability.
Final Grade: 4.28, on the high end of an A-. I've eaten prickly pear exactly one time, and was not really a fan, so I went into this review with some trepidation. Fortunately, those concerns were not warranted - Prickly Pear & Pink Guava is still a very good Jelly King variant. I mean, it's probably not in my top five, but there's no doubt that the guava & kiwi/berry-like flavours of the prickly pear combine quite well together with the acidity of the base sour. A fantastic brew that I would love to drink again some time; highly recommended to any BA who appreciates fruited kettle sours.

At my lady Pamela's house; bottled and chilled, from my favourite LCBO at The Roundhouse Centre in nearby Windsor. My third beer from the Toronto, ON brewery.

Pours an unclear orange with fine head.
Smell is crisp and tart with notes of cactus, lime, passionfruit, guava, melon ad citrus peel.
Taste is crisp and tart with a nice level of hoppiness. Notes of cactus, passionfruit, lime, melon and guava with graefruit rind bitterness rounding out.
Mouthfeel is medium with sparkling carbonation.
Overall, a very nice, refreshing sour with an unusual flavor combination.

The sour base was really sour at this time. The fruit offset it somewhat and gave good flavour. I guess odd, not as popular as the usual fruits so it was one-time variation.
