Wild Radler is a pure ray of citrusy light piercing through the winter gloom.

By blending pink grapefruit juice with foeder aged wild ale, we've created a refreshing and tart sipper that weighs in at a modest 2.5% ABV.

473 mL can shipped from the brewery; dated Jan 4 2024 and served slightly chilled.

Pours hazy and turbid, its pale rosy yellow-toned body briefly capped with half an inch of loose, sudsy white head. In a little over thirty seconds, it has vanished completely, leaving behind a barren surface with no sign that it ever existed - it resembles fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice, sans pulp. I do get a very mild note of leathery Brett funk, as well as wheaty malts and grapefruit. I would've liked more grapefruit, but at least it's an interesting aroma for a radler.

The same can be said of the flavour profile - funky for a radler, but it took a few sips for the grapefruit to *really* show off. Starts off with sweet orchard fruits and bready, wheaty malts; lemony acidity and mild Brett funkiness join by mid-sip. The pink grapefruit juice is most noticeable on the back end, lingering into the aftertaste with its signature mix of citrus juice sourness, peel spiciness & bitterness. Quite acidic, but it's a radler, so it works. Light in body, with crisp, assertive carbonation not unlike that of a soda; feels prickly on the tongue, with a palate-scrubbing quality that leaves you ready for another sip.

Final Grade: 4.02, an A-. Wild Radler with Pink Grapefruit ain't your average radler. The question I've got to ask myself is, would I take Bellwoods' reimagining over a traditional grapefruit radler (for example, Stiegl's)? If I'm being honest, on those occasions where I am craving a radler, the answer would probably be 'no'. That being said, Wild Radler is creative and intriguing enough to be worth revisiting, and I enjoyed my glass quite a lot. I would absolutely recommend this to all radler fanatics, and that goes double for those with a side-interest in funky sours.

Can: Poured a hazy pale yellow color ale with a small white foamy head with limited retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light tart notes with some grapefruit notes. Taste is also a nice mix of tart notes with some grapefruit. Body is about average with good carbonation. Easy drinking and refreshing radler with no artificial flavors.
