473 mL can from the brewery; dated Oct 30 2025 and served barely chilled.
This lager looks chestnut brown at a glance, but holding it up to a light reveals ruby red highlights, as well as its total clarity. Two fingers of foamy, light beige-coloured head rises from the surface, slowly wilting over the next five-plus minutes; a decent smattering of messy lace is scattered across the glass. A creamy collar remains on the surface; looks fine to me. The aroma is mild, consisting of roasted grains, toasted bread, faint cocoa and caramelized sugars.
A flavourful dark lager with a mildly sweet profile. Toasted grains, sourdough bread, corn flakes and cocoa come to mind, culminating in a bittersweet conclusion with hints of caramel, cocoa, toasted bread and roastiness. The aftertaste is slightly malty & roasty, fading to off-dry within a few seconds. Medium in body, with light carbonation and a soft mouthfeel that I found unusually fulfilling & satisfying for a standard-strength lager. Quite quaffable, maybe even sessionable.
Final Grade: 3.89, a B+. A persistent sinus infection has prevented me from reviewing beers for the last two weeks, but now that my sense of smell has been at least partially restored, I figured it's time to start chipping away at my 2025 backlog (which is substantial). Ofrenda is billed as a 'Mexican dark lager' - which, as far as I can tell, is simply a dark lager with corn. You might think that doesn't sound too exciting - and frankly, I can't disagree - but I'd also argue that this is an appealing dark lager from Bellwoods. Well worth a look if you appreciate this kind of thing; not a brew to search high and low for, but I'd give it another shot.

Poured little foam. Very dark brown color that slightly smells of burnt sugar. Noticing a light amount of lime juice but I am unaware if it's been added to not.
The taste is very decent with some mild malt and caramel. Some light brown bread tastes.
Has some of that burnt bitterness.
It's not bad at all and I think I could get used to these.
Would consider grabbing more next time if still available.

Mexican dark lager, brewed in collaboration (zoom call) with Mexican brewery. A bit sweet, dark brown without a head, lighter, chocolatey, easy drinking. On tap at Hafis.
