This dry English Barleywine, created with our friends at Chicago Maple, rested for one year in freshly emptied maple syrup bourbon barrels before being sweetened with that same syrup just prior to packaging. Subtle maple aromatics and flavor complement the classic vanilla and toffee notes we’ve come to expect without detriment to balance. Enjoy now or store cold.

Filled 12/06/21. Clear solid brown. Fairly big sweet maple and malty aroma and flavor; boozy !! Decent balance but definitely leans sweet with big warming alcohol character. Full to medium bodied.

12oz can filled 12/6/2021, Drank 6/11/2025
Taste: Toffee, dark fruit, bourbon, oak, vanilla with a hint of Maple. Malty and sweet but not as sweet as I thought it was going be. The Maple maybe faded with time. The ABV is rather well hidden, Just a hint of alcohol heat.
Good beer. Tasted best on the warm side. The can held up well for it's age.

Dark, mahogany color. Thin, off-white head. Molasses, malt, toffee, dried fruits, maple and wood in the aroma. Malty taste with just a touch of whiskey.

Poured from a 12 ounce can dated 12-6-21 into a snifter at 51 degrees.
Look- Ruby brown, low transparency, light brown creamy head, average head retention and lacing, moderate legs on glass sidewall.
Smell- Maple, toffee, bourbon, vanilla, high strength of scent.
Taste- Overbearing vanilla, maple, toffee, bourbon, nutty, highly sweet, highly boozy, high strength of flavor.
Feel- Medium body, average carbonation, highly creamy, highly sweet, moderately bitter, highly boozy, moderately mouth warming, moderately mouth coating.
Overall- The look was a very nice ruby brown with a light brown creamy head. Bourbon was plenty strong and a nice mix of maple, toffee, bourbon and vanilla. Flavor was much too dominated by vanilla, but still pleasant. Body was thinner than expected, but the high amount of creaminess was a great touch. This beer provided a good drinking experience.

12oz can served in a tulip. Can is dated Dec 06 2021. Provided by @ovaltine in NBS BIF #18.
Pours a dark, clear amber, with a bigger head than I would have expected. Looks thick and almost syrupy. Active carbonation, which is surprising, even though there's not a lot of it. Smell is boozy with vanilla and maple syrup, maybe a hint of golden raisins and toast.
Taste is way sweeter than the aroma suggested. Need a moment to adjust, that first sip sent me reeling. OK. So. Maple syrup is dominant and it's sweet, let's get that out of the way. Aside from that, there's a little bit of a cola flavor, nuts, moderate bark bitterness clawing its way through the sea of sweetness to try and get a little attention. There's actually something between the sweetness, cola, maple, and bark bitterness that makes me think of root beer. Booze is still there, but not prevalent.
Mouthfeel is not nearly as syrupy as I would have guessed, but it does lean in that direction (which is probably good, this would be weird if it were thin). Overall, this is tasty and good, but waaayyy on the sweet side of the spectrum. If you're into that or in the mood for that, you'd probably enjoy this.
