Sampled in a taster glass from draught at Firkin on August 23, 2019. An extra special bitter with flavors of cracker malts, hints of caramel and moderate bitterness.

Shimmering orange body with an off-white cap. Simpler matching smell and taste: caramel malts, earthy phenols, dry and yeast. Light bodied and decently full, smooth, not a lot of definition. Solid esb with no real weakness, elite name though

There aren't a lot of North American entries into this traditional English style and there aren't a lot that are good either.
But Can't Find A Bitter Man is good enough for a second try and maybe a third. After all, this appears to be its 3rd re-release; so Begyle is trying to improve on it. The only improvement I can suggest is fewer bubbles leading to a softer mouth.

This bitter Looks more small bubbles than yeasty foam. Smells are mostly malt. Tastes are balanced and, I shouldn't say this as a malt-head, but a few more hops might suit the U.S. palate better. Perhaps create more of a semi-dry finish. Underneath the bubbles, light to medium-mouthed.

Having uploaded their photo, I should have liked Begyle more than I did. But now I'm moving, so I can only wish this neighbourhood micro well. Cheers !

ESBs are a challenge to find in the US. Begyle Brewing’s “Can’t Find a Bitter Man” is one of the best you’ll find brewed stateside. This medium bodied, dark amber extra special bitter beer has a full feel in the mouth with hints of caramel and the traditional bitter finish Jen wound expect with an ESB. At an ABV of 5%, you can enjoy more than one pint per sitting. Although not always on tap, this is a regular offering at Begyle Brewing.

Canned 2/15/23; drank 4/21/23 @ the Yarchives.

Mostly opaque brown/red appearance.

A rough pour yielded a big khaki head; strong, frothy tree-rung lace.

Oak, strawberry & mild caramel notes in the nose.

Creamy, medium mouthfeel.

Oak, red berry & mild caramel flavors.

Kinda oaky, but overall I really liked this. I'd have another!

This is a full bodied but easy drinking ESB. Lots of malt character with a little spice on the finish.

On-tap at Begyle Brewing Company, Chicago, IL

A: The beer is clear dark amber in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high beige beige head that died down leaving a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of cracker malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of cracker malts with hints of caramel. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is nice and malty and has a pleasant amount of dryness.

On tap the day before the first 2018 Pearl Jam Wrigley show.
Beautiful ruby-copper colour. Mild malty aroma not unexpected in an ESB. Very flavorful, balanced, more bitter than sweet. Mouthfeel a bit thin, head retention was minimal. Overall a nice drinking beer in a vintage industrial tasting room. First stop for the weekend and worth the trip on the Brown Line to Irving Park.

This is a very flavorful beer. Strong malt character with some hop undertones. I seem to recall ESBs of the past being of lighter character. But, of course, everything these days is more intense in the beer world.
