This starts out largely clear gold with a massive foamy eggshell head that surprisingly doesn't stick too much to an unrinsed glass. Tons of sediment and hop oil clouds the body up throughout the second half of the bottle.
Smell is bright yet astringently hoppy and funky with sour apple and pear, piney, mossy, woody hops, musty barn, aged lemon, Sweet Tarts, and a hint of phenols.
Taste is really unique, with something in the background I've not really had much of--maybe walnut shell. I'm getting strong, fresh grass clippings with some phenols and esters like apricot, a little woody funk nearing aged cheese, with a huge load of aged hops bringing in a unique aspect. I expected tons of hoppiness from the second pour which clouded up like a regular Hoof DIPA, but it actually becomes less hoppy, aside from increase in bitterness. Oddly enough, more barnyard funk and pepperiness emerges instead.
Crisp and fizzy, like an AAL, but with a pretty dry finish.
