Imperial Stout with Coffee, Vanilla & Maple Syrup Added
I Think It's Working!
The German House tunes blare. Magnus Ver Magnusson trades in the stationary bike for a super set with the Captains of Crush. Like a millennial taking orders from their Yogi/barista, the machine bends to his will. "Brass, Steel, and Honor," is repeated time and again as he makes his gains.
Bulkin' up for the showdown has never been easier. We combed the Andies in search of the most exotic health options to help you get the beef. Vanilla from the lowlands, coffee from on high, and maple syrup (that we overnighted ourselves from Vermont) all help to tip the scales in your favor.
Stay yoked player.

Fantastic Imperial dessert stout! It pours very dark with little to no carbonation or head. It's like used motor oil when you crack open the pan, exactly what I like. The flavors are spot-on with the can's description and taste natural. I especially appreciate the vanilla, which doesn't have even a hint of the astringent artificial taste that so many "vanilla" Imperial Stouts have these days. I have to say it's Hoof Hearted in the winner's circle with this one.

This one absolutely delivers on the premise.
It's very sweet, but that should probably be expected based on the maple syrup. Coffee is restrained, and vanilla is very complementary. Syrup tends to take the lead on this one; roasty stout base notes are muted.
A touch thin but supremely drinkable. In a million years, you wouldn't guess this is a 14% ABV behemoth. It drinks like a very flavorful 6-9% ABV option. I'd certainly prefer more thickness for this style, but the booze is remarkably well hidden.

Tastes rich of bourbon carameland smells of caramel. A little butter going down, with just the right burn of alcohol which must be difficult to do with 14%. A very good stout.

Holy maple! Dark as a stout should be. Not charred like most stouts. Soft nose and taste. Certainly heavy on the nose with the maple. Taste is a building process. First the slight char, then it builds to the maple/vanilla and then last after a bit I get a nutty flavor, maybe hazel nut? Good beer, very heavy on palate.

Delicious desert beer. Almost black with light brown lacing. Nose has it all earthy malt, coffee and vanilla. The taste is creamy coffee, dark chocolate nibs, notes of maple syrup, vanilla and roasted malts. Alcohol is notable but not over powering. Excellent! Feel is creamy smooth with light carbonation.
Very nice stout brew that drinks easy for the high octane.

Very dark brown appearance with a nice light brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is a mild slightly sweet blend of coffee and vanilla. Taste is a pleasant blend of coffee and vanilla.

Matte black body, two fingers of brown foam. Huge coffee nose with maple/vanilla sweetness on the finish, earth and char underneath as it warms. This is the second time a hoof hearted stout refuses to get more out of the taste than roasted malts to the max and coffee, vanilla and maple are obliterated and instead left in the ashes are crusty earth, smoke, char and dark chocolate with a twinge of metal on the finish. Feel is over-roasted, heavy, thick, and viscous

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high dense dark tan head that has good retention properties and took a long time to die down, leaving a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of dark malts and coffee are present in the nose along with sweet notes of maple syrup.
T: The taste follows the smell and but has stronger flavors of maple syrup along with notes of vanilla and hints of coffee beans.
M: It feels full-bodied and very smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This stout drinks a lot easier than I would expect from a beer that is 14% - it tastes more like it is 9%.
