16oz can poured into a tulip

A- pours jet black in color with a dark brown foamy head that reduces to leave a ring around the edge

S- smells of charred malt, chocolate, hazelnut coffee, brown sugar and caramel, with undertones of coconut cream and vanilla bean

T- heavy hazelnut up front gives a bitter note of hazelnut coffee. Mid-palate brings out notes of chocolate, caramel, anise and char. The finish gives light notes of coconut and vanilla, with a heavy linger of hazelnut

M- medium-heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns into a creamy, slightly warming finish

O- the hazelnut is a bit overpowering, finding it hard for the other adjuncts to shine

16oz can poured into Tyranena snifter glass.

Appearance: Midnight black bodied beer. Head pours tall and thick. Medium brown color head with great staying power. Decent lacing is left clinging to the side of the glass. Thick cap remains on the beer for most of the drink, then it drops down to a thick ring around the glass.

Smell: Roasted coffee and roasted malts. Getting a hint of sweet aroma.

Taste: Roasty coffee that is lightly bitter leads the charge. Hints of the hazelnut, coconut, and vanilla all seem to blend together as a fairly light sweetness. Not a big punch from these sweet adjuncts; more of a richness added to the stout. Tasting some more of brown sugar and molasses notes.

Mouthfeel: full medium body, but not quite all the way to full bodied. Its thick in a pleasant way. Its nice that lactose was not added to this stout to thicken this up. The 13% abv is not at all sensed. Its pretty smooth. great oily silky texture.

Overall: This is more or less a really thick coffee stout. Of all the adjuncts, the Muscovado sugar was the adjunct was what seemed to be most prevalent. Hazelnut, coconut, and vanilla all being fairly light was a minor let down. First brew I have had of Hoof Hearted. I can definitely get the Evil Twin influence from this Collaboration stout there is no doubt at all.

Poured into a 20 oz giant tulip glass not sure when it was canned. Pours pitch black with a massive 3 finger sticky mocha head that leaves some thin streaks of lace as it slowly settles into a thick layer of brown bubbles. 5

Smell is vanilla beans, cocoa nibs, hazelnut, back strap molasses, roasty coffee, coconut, and a hint of warming alcohol. Very inviting. 4.75

Taste follows vanilla, deep dark chocolate, molasses, roasty black coffee, hazelnut, coconut, and a just a tickle of booze in the bold, balanced, and lingering finish. 4.75

Mouthfeel is BIG, gentle carbonation, a little dry as expected, and at 13% the alcohol is well hidden, chewy yet kind of creamy the warmer it gets. 5

Overall this is a glorious Stout, every sip makes me feel kind of funny below the waist. World class in my opinion. Wowza! Evil Twin and Hoof Hearted collaboration. 4.75

Poured from 16oz tall can into my BeerAdvocate teku.

Appearance: entirely, completely black, with three fingers of frothy brown foam atop. Outstanding!

Smell: richly dark and malty; there's a good roasty character here but what I particularly like are the rich, dark aromas of tobacco, dates, raisins and dried cherries. The specific ingredients on the can are not jumping out at me, though. Still -- yum.

Taste: very sweet and malty. Unlike the aroma, I do get the hints of hazelnut and coconut here in the flavor. They complement the sweet, rich roast well. There's less of that great tobacco/raisin flavor here, but still this is a very good beer indeed.

Mouthfeel: rich body with a good carbonation and a nicely smooth creaminess. I love it.

Overall: this beer is damn fine. Of course, it's massively sweet and alcoholic, which does impede drinkability a bit. Still, a lovely dessert treat.

16 oz can, no date, into Empyrean snifter.

A super dark thick inky black spews from the can and forms a similar body with a surprisingly tall almond-beige head of 2 fingers. It recedes slowly and rests at about 1/2 finger, just enough to leave a sticky mustache during the sip.

Aroma is a little spiced at first, perhaps some cinnamon or allspice, but then that gets brushed aside for brown sugar, coconut, fudge, almond milk, and a ton of vanilla.

Flavor brings an empty open, then you get some earthy and slightly perfumey hops, followed by some milk chocolate/candy bar, caramel and roasted malt, a little bit of coconut, and a little bit of vanilla bean. I do not get any of the hazelnut though.

Feel is thick and sticky, with some exciting and bright carbonation, leaves some coffee roastiness on the tongue and some alcohol heat stinking the cheeks.

Overall, not a bad beer, I would have liked it to open up a little more with its flavors. They seemed...stuck, I guess. Not something I'd go for again. Solidly a Hoof Hearted beer, but not representative of typical Evil Twin quality.

Price paid : $5.99 / can
Would buy again : no

I want to start with the feel, because the double mashing and seamless integration of the adjuncts leads to a creamy body with impeccable balance. It's 13% but it goes down so smooth you just thirst for more. Superb! Now for the rest, typical brownish black pour complete with brown head. Smell features the vanilla and coconut defining the hazelnut and cocoa with a malt backbone. Taste is melded together instead of two distinct groups like the nose, like a chocolate hazelnut m&m, so lush and smooth on the palate. Doesn't have a ton of depth, but it hits the right notes perfectly. The wife liked it

I am slowly closing in on closing out the "Better Together" badge on sister (?) site, Untappd. That is the one for collaboration beers & this one qualifies. But how would we know? New site naming guidelines forbid the inclusion of involved breweries in the name, requiring that data to be placed in the Notes. Fair dinkum, but what happens when the person adding the beer does not do their due diligence? The CANQuest (tm) to the rescue! A ChANge Request has been sent, but my frustration mounts.

From the CAN: "Trebag"; "Jeppe" (on their respective headbands); "Double[-]mashed Imperial Stout with Hazelnut, Coconut, Vanilla and Muscovado Sugar added".

I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. It evinced a pseudo-cascade, but also a surprising finger of rolling, roiling, fizzy, foamy, deep-brown head that simply could not wait to fall away to wisps! 8=O Color was ink Black/Opaque (SRM = 44), allowing ZERO light penetration. Nose was immediately redolent with coconut, but I also caught treacle, hazelnut coffee & a light smokiness. Mmm.

I prefer solid-black coffee, but I am not averse to flavors. This smelled like a blend that I might whip up in my drip coffee maker, using several different flavored coffees. No milk, no cream, no sugar. Just smoking intensity in my cup. Any beer that evokes thoughts of my coffee has to be good!

Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but on the approach. The taste was a rich mélange of flavors from dark-roasted coffee to a vanilla-marshmallow to a blend of hazelnut & coconut to the point that it was tough to discern where one left off & the other beCAN to a treacle quality courtesy of the Muscovado sugar. 8=O It would be tough to improve on the taste in this one, but I am going to leave them room to try & one-up themselves. ;=) Finish was dry, more due to its intense roastiness that lingered well after the swallow than anything else. Phew! This was quite the beer. YMMV.

I looked, and I was surprised that there isn't a "Tennis Elbow" or a "More Tennis Elbow." They just went straight to "Even More Tennis Elbow". A serious breach of protocol. Foul.

It pours black with a touch of brown head that keeps on coming. The aroma is not this brew's premier feature - a bit hoppy, but just a bit, making it just kind of dirty. You can tell it's serious drink from the smell.

The taste is what I expected - a huge malty drink, with just a bit of roasted flavor and hops all over sticky boozy malts. Evil Twin does this so well with stouts, I would expect nothing less than the greatness this achieves. It all goes down so easy it is dangerous. I'm sure even one 16 ounce can of this will be remembered the next day (or, sadly, forgotten).

Highly recommended. I wonder if there are any more cans around.
