Expected a 13.7 stout to be "in your face" but this seemed very reserved and perhaps even a bit thin.
Complexity and character just wasn't there for me.

$ 17.87 (Including shipping)/22 oz bottle ($ 0.812) from Tavour, Seattle, WA. Reviewed 1/23/19.
“Bottled on 09/12/18, No. 656/2500” on rear label. Stored at 42 degrees and served at 58 degrees (per label instructions) in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 4.25
Body – Dark brown/black, opaque. When held to the light, slight penetration occurs around the rim.
Head – Large (Maximum 4.7 cm, aggressive center pour), tan, medium density, average retention, diminishing to a two mm ring and a thin partial layer.
Lacing – None, as expected with a 13.7% ABV product.
First pour – Brown, clear.
Aroma – 4 – Begins with a sweet dark fruit aroma followed by the faint odor of molasses and some roasted malt. Unfortunately, this rapidly decays to just a trace of roasted malt.
Flavor – 3.75 – A hint of weak moche latte and some weaker roasted malt. Ends with a very slight bitterness and no hop flavor. No alcohol (13.7% ABV!), no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, a bit short of creamy, lively carbonation.
Impression and interpretation – 3.75 – An OK RIS – looks OK, smells OK, flavor is somewhat of a let-down, and a bit thin for a RIS. Most surprisingly, the 13.7% ABV is so well hidden that, without reading the label, you’d think this was in the 7% area.

The beer pours a a nice brown and creamy head that dissipates at a moderate pace. The beer itself is a delicious looking dark chocolate black that is actually a bit more darker because of the coffee. It has a good texture to it.
The smell is good. It has a nice roast note but the sweet dark chocolate note is dominant. The coffee is surprisingly light.
The taste is pretty good. It has a light coffee note through out with a dominant sweet dark chocolate note and a bit of roast.
The feel is good. It has a heavy body and a creamy feel to it. It has a slightly biting carbonation.
Overall, pretty good and worthwhile.
