The pour is copper colored with a beige head that climbs out of the glass and leaves sparse lacing.
The taste is a dance between the warm malt flavors; biscuits and grass and leather and the hops; piney and black pepper.
It settles into a draw, the malts lead in the mouth and the hops shine in the swallow.
The feel is about what I want from the style, not lager thin and not viscous, but the comfortable place in between.
OA, I tend to try every ESB I can, but that isn’t many. This is one of the best, in my opinion, that I’ve had.

Disappointing; most closely resembles a Vienna lager than a ESB.

Poured from a 16oz can into pint glass in April 2022. There is a canned on date 3/25/2022, and purchased during my visit to their brewpub.

Appearance: Dark gold/copper color with a tan head. The head was about 2-finger thick with very fine bubbles, lasts for only a minute and ended with a thin head. There is very little lacing sticking to the glass.

Smell: Some malt, spice, and a hint of sweetness like caramel. Also, some earthy aromas.

Taste: There is a nice balance between the malts and hop flavors. Unlike the name of the style, this is not too bitter.
There are some fruity and other sweet flavors to enhance the taste and add some complexity. There is a mild alcohol presence, which matches the published 5.6%. Nice aftertaste of the malts and hops.

Mouth-feel: Moderate body, with an extremely smooth and creamy body.

This is a good ESB, and it has a variety of flavors that adds an impressive complexity to the beer. Although this has low alcohol, the body is not thin and is enjoyable to drink. The smoothness adds to the overall enjoyment. Another good specialty beer from Adroit Theory, and a nice contrast to some English ESBs. I would buy this again.

Pours a med frothy 1 finger off white head with moderate retention fair lacing, very clear amber rosy color

Nose quite fruity, sweet caramel mild toasted reddish malt, toffee, fruit brings golden raisin, candied apple, hint buttery cracker, light herbal minty hops

Taste starts with herbal earthy hops, med to a bit higher spicy bitterness, mossy, grassy, leafy, light sweet caramel reddish sweet malt, a bit of fruitiness with a little caramelized apple and cherry like, pomegranate, mild sticky sweet finish, moderate spicy hop finish

Mouth is med to a bit fuller bod, med higher frothy carb

Overall not bad, maybe a bit too bitter spicy like but within style, also would like the malt to shine more for a good esb, but otherwise decent beer
