Gorgeous RIS. Pours 40W motor oil black. Fills the glass with a glossy obsidian shine. Deep cocoa colored head forms a firm head that elevates nearly 2 inches, slowly recedes to a ring with a thin film cap, and leaves lithe layers of lacing.
Nose is timid in its delivery of diluted coffee and roasted malt. Really not much else here.
Flavor follows the nose. Slightly more developed in the roasted malt notes but not sweet by any stretch. Again, the coffee comes off as diluted and lacking depth and any distinguishing contributions.
Mouthfeel is perplexing after witnessing the glory of the pour. A tad thin for style. Mildly bitter on the finish. Appropriately low carbonation.

Atomic Age (Ghost Atomic Age) from Adroit theory. Four-pack of 16 fl oz cans. Ordered 15/04/25, received 10/07/25 from Adroit Theory on-line: $ 33.026 (Including shipping)/$ 0.516 per fl oz. Reviewed 12/07/25 (Review 3546). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stored at 37 degrees F at home. Served at 56.4 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 63.1 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Brown (SRM 20), nearly opaque.
Body – Brown (SRM 20), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, amber at the edges.
Head – Average (Maximum 2.5 cm, aggressive center pour). Tan brown, lightening to wheat as it oxygenates, high density, average retention, dropping to a 0.5 – 1.0 mm crown and no cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3.5 – Weak coffee and faint roasted malt. No yeast, no hops, no alcohol.
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins slightly bitter with weak coffee and roasted malt. No yeast, no hops. No alcohol (12 % ABV, according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Moderate gastric warming.
Palate – 3.5– Medium: watery side of creamy: soft but lively carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated can) Uncredited label artist. I assume this is fresh because it was just shipped, but that doesn’t excuse the undated can. This is a very weak example of the usually high quality RISes that Adroit Theory produces.
