750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance - Pours remarkably viscous. Not much of a head. Very thin collar.
Smell - Weird barrel aroma. Smells like gin and white wine. Citrusy. Kinda vegetal, like green peppers, which I guess is from the Elderflowers.
Taste - Mildly tart up front. Herbal, citrusy, and green peppers. Oak. Some grassy bitterness in the back end.
Mouthfeel - Ropy. Unnecessarily thick. Viscous and low carbonation.
Overall - Something is wrong with the body. Otherwise, it's a pretty good beer.

Thanks Sam.
The nose is singing. The sequence of chardonnay and gin barrels does, white the final conditioning in port barrels merges in with the vagaries of time. Fruity, funky, buttery, herbal, mild sherry notes. The palate opens tart, funky, and surprisingly reserved for a de Garde that's so old. Fruity, funky, gorgeously balanced and executed. Layers of barrel with fruity buttery chardonnay with sharp, mildly oxidized, honey like Ransom gin notes. Lovely.

A bit flat but pretty delicious. Lots of oak, somewhat like an American unblended lambic.
