A great beer. Full-bodied taste, a good stiff stout. Holy Hound Taproom in York, PA got some of this stuff in recently, even though it was retired. This one will sneak up on you quickly.

Received from @Dragginballs76 in a post-NBS BIF #5 ninja box – Thanks Michael!
16 oz can marked on the bottom 2/12/17. Stored in a 42 degree reefer and served at 57 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 3.75.
Body – Dark brown, opaque. Light shining through at the edge shows it to be a hazy brown. Effervescent.
Head – Large (Maximum 8.5 cm, aggressive pour), tan, low density, somewhat fizzy, average retention time, diminishing to a three mm ring and a thin layer with rocks. Very heavy upwelling of bubbles in the center of the glass from the second pour.
Lacing – None from either the first or second pour.
Pour – Brown, clear.
Aroma – 4 - Initially a large burst of roasted malt and chocolate bouquet. This fades away leaving a faint coffee perfume.
Flavor – 3.5 - Chocolate and alcohol, both up front and in the aftertaste. The chocolate could be from either the malt or the cocoa nibs. No hops, no diacetyl.
Palate – 3 - Almost medium, less than creamy, fizzy. Leaves my lips sticky.
Impression and summation - 3 - As usual with Burial, excellent can art. Unfortunately, you are not consuming the can (Although, from some of the reviews noting a metallic taste, perhaps some people are). This is over-carbonated and too thin for an Imperial stout. The alcohol is too prominent for being only 10% ABV- acceptable in the aftertaste but not up front. A less-than-stellar effort from an otherwise stellar brewer.

Served in a snifter glass from the can.
Appearance: Deep black brown tinted body wth a tan head rising maybe half a finger's length. Drops after two sips with zero lacing. Body is a touch thin compared to some other imperial stouts but still looks good.
Smell: Sweet brown sugar and heavy molasses. Seriously very hard not to like.
Taste: Sweet and bitter, brown sugar and coffee crush your palates. The malts are there but feel a bit almost hidden.
Mouth: Sticky, the sweet finish and coffee feel linger like you wouldn't believe.
Overall: Little pricey but great pick-up, there are better imperial stouts out there but one that feels like dessert is definitely an attention getter. Salud!

Appearance - Pours black with cola brown edging. Head is frothy and peaks at two fingers in width, peeling away in fair time, revealing a mostly barren surface with a fair ring of suds around the edge of the glass. Lacing consists of broken, horizontal lines, most of which slide slowly back into the drink, leaving a few minuscule spots.
Smell - Chocolate, sugary molasses, moderate coffee roast and just a hint of raisin.
Taste - Nothing unexpected. Chocolate and molasses upfront and throughout. Lesser roast keeps this from getting cloying, but it's still a bit sweet. Odd, copperish metallic twang. Faint fruitiness. Finish is roasty with lingering sweetness and metallic character.
Mouthfeel - Full-bodied with low carbonation. Sticky texture turns nigh syrupy with the dry finish. Not the smoothest drinker, but at 10% it's understandable.
Overall - A promising imperial stout that just misses the mark with too much sugary character and also a funky metallic taste. Drinkable, but I wouldn't call it enjoyable.

Very roasty. Creamy mouthfeel, especially considering the avb. Charred chocolate and ample carbonation lead, with the toast-y sensation lingering past the sip.

neat can of beer, these guys do such a good job with the dark stuff. also, one of the best beer names of all time. this is big one, tons of thick sweet body to it, and a little booze pushing through it too, this put me from buzzed to drunk without much effort. lots of coffee and vanilla and brown sugar sweetness to it, there is a nice roasted low end from the grain that gives a coffee profile to this, but this is more sweet than it is balanced, with a pretty heavy caramel malt complexion. i definitely taste soda in this, like cola or dr pepper or something, almost an artificial sort of sweetness like that, but its appealing to me like a soda might be, kind of weird, but definitely unique in beer, and it works here. i was glad to be sharing it though, it feels heavy in the belly and is pretty sticky feeling, not to mention the booze. finishes with cocoa and almond and coffee notes, brown sugar too, and a nice smoothness. really lingers long on the palate. a coffee edition of this would be awesome, that was my first thought on this one, a nice rich cold brew blended in would pop it off and mellow some of that sugar. maybe they will do it...

Poured from a 16oz can with a canned on date of 2/21/17; into a pint glass.
Appearance- coal black, but some light comes through at the base of the glass producing a brown hue. Thick, mocha head that recedes slightly, but leaves nice lacing!
Smell - coffee, caramel and a little bit of oak barrel and vanilla.
Taste - robust coffee, oaky vanilla and a slight hint of bourbon!
Feel - heavy, syrupy and a touch boozy; has a bourbon barrel aged feel!
Overall - big, bold stout full of flavor and an easy sipper at 10%ABV!
