Cuvée of Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout and Bourbon Barrel-Aged Barleywine Ale
Our once-a-year take on the depths of our strong ale barrel program. Besieged in layers of full-bodied chocolate, cognac, and bourbon. Encircled by toffee and smooth roast with the support of vanilla-laden oak.

Appearance: Arrives with chocolate fudge colored liquid and a thin cap that fades to a collar; leggy but no lace
Smell: Roasty with caramel and chocolate ensconced in Bourbon; the Stout and the Barleywine combine in the aromatics but I was expecting the overall tone to be more powerful
Taste: Chocolate and caramel forward with the Bourbon building; plenty of vanilla in the mix, by the middle; the finish contains both Stout and Barleywine flavors
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low carbonation; warmth in the gullet
Overall: A bit of a clash between the Stout and Barleywine flavors with a boozy Bourbon aspect to pull everything together; it would be interesting to see how this matures over time as I have a hunch it might be better in a year or so
