American Porter with Coffee
Something to guide you to the light of kingdoms coming. A collage of interests shared with our friend S.G. Goodman. A bold American Porter accented with roasted malts and a touch of curated coffee. Made with barley, oats, triticale, and roasted malt. Our Porter than conditioned upon a small dose of Methodical Coffee's Costa Rican La Pastora and Guatemalan Ixlama beans to provide complexity and accent without overwhelming the beer.

A big, thick, elegant mug showcases the clear, black beer with mahogany highlights. The head is thin with a light khaki color and quickly fades to a ring and a veil.
Burnt malt and caramel coffee immediately engage the nose. Simple, yet expressive, hint of sweetness comes with warmth, as does light campfire ash.
The flavor follows the nose and is filled with dark roasted malt and coffee. There is light bitterness and faint sweetness that extends well into the mild finish. The campfire ash turns to cigar ash over time.
Alcohol is below expectations in this medium to light bodied beer with a soft, smooth texture. Carbonation is light to modest.
This Porter has a shy robustness that works well as a good afternoon beer to enjoy with conversation. I suspect it would also pair well with a cigar.
