Extreme Beer Box 2022.
Well the color is interesting, and a bit pretty. Opaque amber tinged sable in hue. But some serious chunkage. I mean Metamucil in d' house? Decent initial head, finger+ in height, settled into a respectable sandy cap.
Nose reminds me of a blend of cream, orange bitters, and apple brandy. i know that sounds all over the place...because it is. But it's kind of enticing.
Flavor is sweet and warming. Initially it reminds me of a batch of sangria that was mixed at a Spanish bar I worked at one summer. Some dipstick went real hard on adding sugar, then tried to cover it up by adding brandy. this is that. Some orange bitters again. But this is cloying. Not much nuance here.
Feel is kind of syrupy and warm. Finish is a bit sticky in the mouth.
Overall, interesting effort.

12 ounce bottle poured in an Imperial pint shaped glass. From the Extreme Beer Box 2022.
Funky looking to begin with; cinnamon brown color with more colloids than bubbles. A brown sugar colored cap drops quickly and leaves but a spot or few of lacing.
Aromas are wood, sugar, vanilla, and orange. Heavy on the caramel. Funky.
No denying the oak aging which is flavor forward, lots of soak oak. The orange and pomegranate join the vanilla sweetness to round out the flavors with some caramel.
Cognac like feel, boozed, fruity, and sweet.
Sticky orange and chewy dark caramel. Funky.
Funky. It is a sweet and creamy brew - with a high abv kick. While not an everyday brew, I find it better than some previous reviews. Funky.

In the BeerAdvocate Extreme Beerfest Box 2022
Poured from a bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a ruby amber golden amber color with a one finger head of puffy, off-white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading slowly over time to leave a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is very odd. There are notes of caramel and some crème with a huge boozy medicinal like smell. Along with these smells comes a little bit of pomegranate and orange as well as a little bit of wood and herb.
Taste – Ahhh. The taste begins with a super sweet pomegranate and caramel flavor mixed with a medicinal and herbal flavor. Other flavors of crème and oak are there as well, along with some notes of a somewhat burning spice flavor. The pomegranate and medicinal tastes get quite a bit more potent as the taste advances, all while the sweetness gets more cloying in nature. In the end, one is left with a very off putting and disgustingly sweet and medicinal taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. The thickness and low carbonation level unfortunately accentuate the sweet and off flavors to a greater extent, making for a difficult drinker.
Overall – Disgusting!! Never again.

Slight taste of the tangerine on the back end, overpowering beet/dirt flavor and smell, 3 sips and down the drain.

A extremely unique offering, this was one of the first ones I pulled out of my extreme beer box, so I had to pop it. The head disappeared within seconds, but I expected that with the high alcohol and tequila barrel aging. The rich, caramel color lets light pass through just a little. The nose is very assertive, boozy raisin, stiff cognac, and molassesThe mouth feel seems rather thin at first, but the sweetness coats the back of my throat and has a very warming quality. The flavor encompasses that holiday fruitcake that has tons of booze soaked raisins, molasses cake, and candied oranges. I think the relative thinness enhances the feel; thick would be a little too much. A very unique brew that is an excellent winter warmer
