At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From The Roundhouse Centre LCBO on Howard Ave. in nearby Windsor. No date stamp; lot number 53-4-697. My 5th beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and 1st for 2026. With Sundae the cat's permission, of course...

Pours a dark amber color with a white head on top. Has a caramel malt smell to it. Taste has a strong grain flavor and caramel as well. Great Shoresy beer!

Here’s another LIF beer from the wonderful Coronaeus. This was is just a straightforward, simple Light Lager. This should be perfect for this strangely hot first day of fall. Let’s crack it open and see what the official beer of Letterkenny (a show I’ve never watched but would like to) is all about

Pours a lightly cloudy yellow gold with 3 fingers of creamy off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimal lacing

The nose is a bit sweeter and more fruity than you’d expect for a Light Lager, but that’s fine by me. I’m picking up on aromas of crackery malt, sweet honey, herbal hops, orange zest, lemon zest, white pepper, and light white grape

It’s a bit more bland in taste but still pretty good for what it is. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting bready malt, sweet honey, grassy hops, lemon zest, apple skin, and toasted grain. The swallow brings notes of sweet honey, bready malt, orange zest, raw grain, grassy hops, and light white pepper

A light medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes neutral and dries out more over time

I don’t get the low ratings here, I think this is damn good. It may have more ale-like tendencies, but I dig it

UPDATE - Can from LCBO - purchased today rebranded as both "Leterkenny X and "Shoresy" lager...my sample was labeled as 5% abv must be a new recipe...pours a clear pale gold with 2 finger cap...aromas are demure with grains and grassy-clover tones, light malt sweetness....peppery hop-accented tones offset the malty character, rounded mouth feel....flavor is well balanced between sturdy pale malts and light hop bittering...clean crisp finish where bittering increases...no aftertastes...not bad patio brew, I fail to see what all the bad reviews are about unless the first batch was off, this sample is fairly decent but nothing really stands out as making it any different than a full gristed malt lager

No, not actually retired - still available August 2021.

Clear honest gold. Moderate head almost completely dissipates, just a ring left, but near continuous lace. Grassy hops on the nose. Malty sweet, sturdily bitter. Fairly common stuff, drinkable.

Well, piter pater, let's get at'er Puppers is the official beer of Letterkenny, and of course it's brewed in Sudbury, the place where they shoot the show. Let's see what Wayne, Dary and Squirrely Dan has been drinkin'. Given the beer says light beer on the can, I'm reviewing this as a light lager, not a standard lager. Gonna try to work some show quotes into this review, and try to keep in clean.

Appearance: Poured with a finger and a half of head that did stick around, but didn't produce any lace. The body is a pale yellow that seems have almost green highlights to it, certainly indicating it's a bit lighter. Not quite fighting a guy with a treasure trail, but it's certainly at wishing it wasn't so akward, bud.

Smell: Smells like wet Hay (although that's a straw bale) and a touch of swamp and herb. Didn't need a warm up to get going, and while there's nothing offensive going on, it's 10 ply, bud as in way too soft.

Taste: Starts with a mix of straw malt and sweet corn with a slight sudsy note, which leads into a bit of lemon and some mild herb vegetable and rounding out with some fairly run of the mill bitter hops. I guess it can wheel a tire down a hill.

Mouthfeel: As noted earlier, it's not a nice sudsy carbonation note to it, although the beer does start to flatten out just past the three quarter mark. Aftertaste is clean with maybe a touch of straw and vegetable. Moist as expected for a light beer, like Moist Jaw Saskatechwan, a shot of Jaegermoister or watching American's Moist Wanted.

Drinkability: Well, it's a light beer, so this is where this beer needs to go bardownski, and thankfully it does. It's certainly a good old guzzler after having a great day for hay and it's light bodied and absurdly easy to get down. Complicated though, this beer is not, it's an easy to drink light lager.

Final Thoughts: My favorite quote from Letterkenny is "Don't nickel and dime the great one" in reference to Wayne Gretzky. For the most part, I think this beer does squeeze out the W here. That said, it's a light lager, meant for the swelter of summer. It's probably one of the better light's I've had, but don't expect it to knock your socks off.

Appearance - Pours a clear straw gold with three fingers of foamy white head.

Smell - soapy and musty hops, lager yeast, lemon, and grainy wheaty malts.

Taste - soapy and musty hops upfront. The lager yeast and lemon come through next. The grainy and wheaty malts finish the brew off.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes crisp and dry with the soapy hops, lager yeast, and lemon lingering.

Overall - A refreshing brew meant for a post-hike or post cutting the grass brew. The elements are spot on. Nothing really stands out with this one but is meant to be enjoyed after an activity.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated July 4 2018 and served slightly chilled. If nothing else, fans of unnecessary alliteration should appreciate the spiel on the back label.

Pours a clear, pale straw yellow colour; looks rather effervescent, with about an inch of smooth, soapy white head gathering atop before settling off within the next three minutes. A wide collar of frothy foam lasts on, along with an attractive swath of messy lacing; looks great for a light lager. The aroma is mostly doughy, bready pale malts, with hints of wheat grain, boiled vegetables and honeyed sweetness. Not getting any semblance of hops off the nose, just malt sweetness (of which there may be a little too much, IMO).

The flavours are along the same lines as the aroma, with doughy-sweet pale malts and bready wheat notes doing most of the legwork from the start of the sip to the finish. Light hints of cereal grain, with some faintly weedy hops barely coming through towards the finish, while the aftertaste has some briefly lingering doughy sweetness that soon fades. Light in body, with average carbonation levels for a pale lager - they provide a small bit of crispness, but the overall texture is fairly smooth. Very crushable... but at 4%, isn't that always the case?

Final Grade: 3.45, a passable B-. I've done much worse than Puppers Premium Lager, but doing better would not exactly be difficult. I can't be too hard on this one for being boring, because it's basically light beer - but it calls itself a "premium lager", which means the expectations should be a bit higher. I can't see any convincing reasons to repeat this on a regular basis, unless you're seriously into Letterkenny.

473 ml can served cold into a shaker pint. Purchased from the LCBO for around $2.80 CDN. Interesting tidbit, the official beer of popular show LetterKenny.

Appearance - Pale golden colored beer, very light, but not quite Coors Light light in color. Small half finger of head is poured and dissipates quickly. Little carbonation throughout. Very non-descript.

Smell - Clean and rather grainy, with subtle malty sweetness and something akin to sweet corn. Very faint cooked veggie. Works but not terribly good.

Taste - A little better here. Fairly sweet, but thin enough to not overload with flavors. The not so pleasant veggie aroma doesn't show here. Thin tasting, little bitterness, but not half bad really.

Mouthfeel - Soft, light, little carbonation, so little that it reminds me of some cask ales I enjoyed a couple months back overseas. Very easy drinking.

Overall - A lot better than I expected, decent enough flavor for a light lager and the feel on this is very good and gentle, easier to drink in large quantities over an extended period.
