It takes a certain Frenchman to fully understand joie de vivre. In the late 1600s, that man was Pierre Espirit Radisson. The adventurous French explorer wintered in Door County during a fur trading expedition and was never the same. “Oh là là,” he said, as he described the region as a place of such great bounty, whatever a man could desire was his for indulging. In honor of our rich land, we created Bière de Seigle. Brewed with our saison yeast, low alpha hops and two types of rye for added depth and spice, Bière de Seigle is a rustic American approach to a classic Belgian farmhouse ale. The range of flavors is a tour de force.

L: A light gold pour with a slight haze produces a 2” white foam cap that quickly dissipates leaving splotchy lace.

S: A variety of fruit aromas dominate including banana, citrus, some orange and over ripe fruit with touches of spice.

T: Rich Belgian yeast flavors of fruit, spice, orange, light banana, light malt, and a trace of bubble gum. The yeast flavors are medium high, the malt flavors are medium and the hop flavors and bitterness are medium low.

F: Medium to medium low body, medium high carbonation.

O: A decent, drinkable Saison that brings out the Belgian yeast flavors. The rye spiciness is very faint.

Murky brownish orange, ample foam and spotty sudsy lacing.

Pepper and clove phenols from the yeast come out in the aroma.

Taste of pepper, clove phenols, grape esters, slight astringency. Mild bitterness and grapeskin aftertaste. Grainy malt base, heavy yeast presence. Medium bodied and spice forward, fairly dry aftertaste.

Overall it's ok, kind of an interesting Saison/Biere de Garde hybrid. Leans on the heavy yeast and clove/pepper end of the spectrum, which isn't my personal preference.

Biere De Seigle pours a golden color with a huge fluffly lacing head. There is a sweet and spicey aroma. The taste is a mellow spice, nice citrus notes, creamy flavors. Great creamy body. Overall its a very rich beer, nice citrus flavors and mellow spice notes.
