We are excited to share with you of our next blend of Pulling Nails. Blend #9 continues to focus on using our diverse sour, tart, funky and oak-aged barrel stock to create a unique beer which couldn’t be produced without the blending of these individual threads. A little more of an assertive Brettanomyces presence is softened by the Blackberry and Vidal Blanc portions to define what Pulling Nails Blend #9 is.

The Official Blend:

32% Thicket - Missouri Wild Ale aged on Blackberries for more than a year

18% Oude du Blé - Missouri Wheat Saison - 13 months in oak

20% Foedre #7 - Initial fill date - September 1st, 2017

15% Méthode Traditionnelle - Coolship Inoculated & Spontaneously fermented - 2 years in oak

15% Missouri Saison with Missouri Vidal Blanc Grapes - 1 year in oak

750 mL bottle. Amber body. Smells of acetone, red wine, deep berries. Tastes of berries and then straight acetone. Oak and sourness. Really rough. I guess it's not that sour, but it hits the nose hard. Undrinkable.

Great looking and smelling beer but after hearing about this for so long I found it way too hard to drink, just too damned tart and acidic for me. I drank it, and I actually have another blend that I'm quasi eager to try, but I don't think Pulling Nails is for me...

Lovely opaque reddish brown color. Velvety off white head lingers for a moment before dissipating. Aroma is super complex with tart and sour notes coming through on the nose, berries, cherries, wine, oak, etc. Taste is as tart and sour as the nose implied. Lots of tart fruit, berries, oak, tannins, red wine, and grain. Feel is very tart, sour, and puckering. It’s an incredibly delicious wild ale, but is in no way for the feint of heart.
