For Beer : Barrel : Time 2018, we chose a blend of our stout recipes that consisted of O.W.K. aged in Willett Bourbon barrels for 20 months, … (Ellipses) aged in Heaven Hill barrels for 23 months and Derivation Blend #3 aged in Knob Creek barrels for 17 months. Whereas BBT 2017 spent a little less time in barrel, the additional average age for the 2018 blend let the rich chocolate and sweet coconut notes of the beer and oak come forward a bit more, resembling some of the older, non-adjunct Derivation Blends.

Enjoyed this beer during Side Project's 7th anniversary week with today being their BBT vertical day by draft.
Motor oil black in color and consistency, with minimal carbonation. On the nose, there are notes of cacao nibs, freshly ground coffee, raisins, figs, and a touch of vanilla. The beer is medium to full-bodied, creamy with a nice balance of chocolate, roasted malts, dark black fruits, and vanilla imparted by the barrel. Even out of a plastic cup (due to shortage of glassware with the mob of SP fans tonight) this was fantastic.

2018 vintage; drank 6/26/21 @ the Seventh Tee.
Good god, this was a gem; the nose promised sweet cocoa, light roast coffee bean, milk chocolate & faint vanilla.
The flavor added some slightly harsh Russian Imperial Stout notes that only added complexity & enjoyment.
Maybe the mouthfeel could have been a touch silkier; to call this a complaint is a true first world problem.
God-tier.

It is difficult to decide if the smell or the taste is better. Our tasting group describe it as bourbon soaked brownie batter. Amazing flavor profile considering it is a non adjunct stout. Mouthfeel is rich and thick.
