Our 3rd staff beer! We work with our staff members to let them create a beer for themselves, one that has their flare, their heart, their ideas in it. All Dougs was conceptualized and directed by our incredible Megan Knaus with the formulation help of brewer Brian Ivers. They brewed a porter which was influenced by thoughtful amounts of raw and toasted coconut lending to loads of sweet aromatics, but a gentle palate impression and finished with a touch of cocoa nibs. Thank you Megan for the wonderful beer and naming it after some incredible Dougs!

Tar black with some brown sediment swirling within the edges, and a very short-lived, thin tan blanket for a head.
The medium to thick round body has a fine yet soft carbonation that starts us off with a milk chocolatey roast that is mild, followed up by some soft, smooth and creamy coconut. A semi-bitter note of lightly nutty mocha coffee adds contrast.
At first it seems light and refreshing, but soon reveals itself to be a little more substantial and closer to the pastry level of their bottles. The coconut increases as it warms, but not too intensely, and still in balance, accented by a hint of cigar and tobacco leaf, but it's still pretty creamy in a near Mounds-like way before it's nicely semi-dry finish wraps it up.

poured from a 16oz can into a half pint glass. pours pitch black with a good amount of brown sugar-colored head. head dissipates leaving a mocha ring around the glass. the nose on this beer is pure, unadulterated coconut. no other way around it. do not hardly pick up on a base porter that could potentially have aromas of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, etc. the porter elements come through a bit more in the taste but it’s still a coconut showcase here. i get a little more roast and malts on the taste than i do the nose. but it pairs well with the coconut sweetness. nothing outshines the other. very well balanced and by that i mean that a pint of this is not only enjoyable but it’s not a struggle or a chore. mouthfeel is superb. better than what most breweries pass on for an imperial stout. i don’t know what else to say or elaborate with on this beer. fantastic porter. definitely the best i’ve had of this style.
