Always high expectations for derivations, and it’s been a long time since I had one. The nose on this is phenomenal—I mainly got amaretto cherries. Nice dark chocolate-covered strawberry to tobacco to burnt sugary pie crust remnant flavor journey. The port comes through beautifully at the end. Finishes dryer than any derivation I remember. I could have finished my 8 ounces pretty quickly. Thick as always, little carb, loved it!

From a 750ml bottle at the SP Cellar. Pours an inky syrupy black with minimal carbonation and a very faint hint of a head that dissipates quickly leaving the appearance of a stout served still. Leaves those typical SP stout legs wrapped around the glass. Smokey tobacco, dried fruits, chocolate on the nose. I detect a faint whiff of sweet chili as well. The poet barrels deliver with lost of sweet berries and dark fruity tobacco on the sip. It's decadent and sweet but not cloying. Nice thick silky texture coats the palate. Cory's ability to get great complexity without adjuncts is impressive. It's a worthy addition to the line.
