Masterclass in adjunct balance and blending. Spiced vanilla & and chocolate dipped chilies on the nose. Flavors of toasted vanilla, brown sugar, & hot cocoa mix, w/ a touch of smoke & astringency from that barrel treatment. Finish w/ that chili heat.

poured from a silver-waxed 375mL bottle into a SP LC tumbler. pours a thick black with a thin layers of dark brown foam that disappears as quickly as it shows up. lot of chocolate and spice - both bourbon barrel and ancho chili - on the nose. it’s oddly a little one note but the taste is much more complex with rich chocolate and vanilla followed by cinnamon / chili / bourbon spice. lots of ancho spice on the finish, especially as it gets close to room temperature. super thick and full mouthfeel. coats the mouth. this is really good. the additives seem to dominate over the barrel although there is still very much a bourbon presence to it. tons of rich chocolate and a bold peppery spice.
