What was wild is now wild again, Fonta Flora pulls the razzmatazz over our eyes with a death defying act of berry proportions. Borrowing some lambic-like properties from the Belgians, they apply those lessons to an Appalachain wild ale to pull out all the tricks on the senses.
Bright and rouge to the eye, the bubbly pour hardly holds a froth, but its rose wine appearance precedes a tantalizing, souring scent of citrus, berry, vinous fruit and attic-like musk. Scant sweetness bounces off the tongue with the dryness of communion wafer, sourdough and a dash of powdered sugar while the underlying fruitiness of lime, lemon, crabapple, grape and gooseberry bring a distinctively acidic punch. All wrapped in a light veil of raspberry, the session finishes piquantly sour and dry.
Light, crisp and highly refreshing, the thirst stripping beer follows with an after palate of weathered wood, cellar-like funk and a hint of horse hair in near lambic-like fashion.

Deep, rich, dark purple body, relatively clear; lively carbonation; no lasting head. Incredibly powerful aroma; blackberry and raspberry jam; wonderfully balanced sourness against the berry sweetness. Heavy body; dense residual sugars offset with a bold acidic and juicy character.
This dynamic wild ale is out of this world for the style. It piles on the berries and tartness with little to no wild funk. It is incredibly drinkable.
Pouring temperature: 49 °F: bottling info: Batch #3 BOTTLED APRIL 2021

Appearance: Pours out like a Pinot Noir and, as there is neither head nor carbonation, looks exactly like a glass of red wine
Smell: Raspberry aromatics, with the deep, tart black raspberry coming through more strongly than the more delicate red raspberry; juicy and slightly tart
Taste: Juicy and tart, with the two berry flavors each adding their elements to the flavor; the tartness builds, along with a hint of funk, in the middle; the finish is a bit puckery
Mouthfeel: Medium body but flat
Overall: Although the flavors are excellent, something happened with the yeast in this bottle conditioned beer
