Bottled December 2018
And for the last bottle from my trade with brentk56, we have a Flanders Red from Fonta Flora. Adding cherries to the style is one thing, but figs? That sounds like it'll take it to another level. Let's crack this beast open and see what it's all about
Pours a cloudy brownish orange with a finger of light beige head that fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
The figs are certainly present in the nose, giving a nice mellow vibe to the brightness of the underlying beer. I'm picking up on aromas of black cherry, brown sugar, red wine vinegar, sharp oak, sweet fig, molasses, lemon zest, and light sherry
Everything is turned up in intensity in taste, the figs bringing more sweetness to a more aggressive base. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting black cherry, sweet fig, tannic red wine, toffee, red wine vinegar, smooth oak, leather, sherry, and light brown sugar. The swallow brings notes of black cherry, sweet fig, molasses, red wine vinegar, sharp oak, lemon juice, and brown sugar
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a tart yet balanced beer. Finishes bone dry with a nice balance
Awesome stuff here. It drinks so easy for the style, it's almost hard not to chug it

Appearance: Pours a cloudy burnt orange with a modest head; splashy lacing
Smell: Funky with very tart cherry and fig tones; very oaky
Taste: The tart flavors coat the tongue, at the outset, with fruit elements starting to appear in the mid-palate; more fig, at first, and then the oaky cherry adds another sour dimension; thoroughly tart
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: The fig flavors here are very nice but I am not sure that the cherry is as enjoyable as what I have found in other FF fruited sours
