Bourbon barrel aged coffee stout. Very coffee forward flavored. In fact, the coffee in this is so delicious I want to buy coffee from their supplier. No hint of the alcohol, which is surprising for a 14%abv beer. Some bourbon flavor on the back end. But the bourbon definitely is playing 2nd chair to the coffee in this one. If you love coffee stouts, you will love this beer. If you’re expecting a big bourbon flavor. This one will disappoint you.

Acquired a 750 ml bottle from @BMBCLT 4-1-23, thanks for the generous trade! Released in March 2023, consumed 375 ml for review 3-24-24.

Beer poured black as night with a pretty nice dark brown head that dissipated quickly.

Nose is very nice, getting caramel, chocolate, bourbon, and coffee.

Taste follows the nose as the large malt base displays the adjuncts very well. Barrel was very warming with the initial sips and works with the coffee to balance the subtle touch of caramel and chocolate. Finishes with a warm touch.

Mouthfeel is medium to large bodied with each sip being very smooth.

Overall, the barrel was overdone and a tad overwhelming. Still a nice beer!

Three year aged beers are rare, but four years is crazy. The first four year comes from Fanta Flora in a collab with Perennial. The beer is boozy, full of wood, and surprisingly light coffee. The complexity is intense as you would expect with this age. For me, this big boy is the most well-rounded stout that uses coffee as an addition.

On tap at FF.

Tan head black color. Lots of coffee. Espresso, roast, but smooth. Warming bourbon all throughout. Strong. Oaky, vanilla, fudge, molasses, and a little bit of char. Way too easy to drink for 14%. Full bodied, massive flavor. Ends with warming bourbon.
