Picked up a 750ml bottle from the Appalachian Vintner on 10-19-23 for $33.99. Bottled in August 2023, consumed 11-16-24.
Beer poured dark brown with a smallish off-white head that quickly dissipated.
Nose is very nice, getting notes of dark fruits, vanilla, leather, and toffee.
Taste is a large malt base that is bringing a toffee and caramel combo along with some raisin in the post sip aspirations. Barrel brings a touch of vanilla but mostly is balancing the large malt base. Finishes with a nice warmth and style appropriate sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium to large bodied and smooth.
Overall, this was a very good splurge, glad i gave it a shot!

Very dark brown almost black body, brown ring. Rye, dark grain, toasted caramel, very warm whiskey, and mild raisin in nose. Taste is not as warm with the booze, rye and rich caramel ride atop a base of malt, barley, char, and dark wood, the dark fruit is not as strong nor sharp. Feel is warm and lighter than expected, very smooth and slightly thicker as it warms. Rustic rye lingers on the palate

This is one of those beers I think I would have like to have on tap. It seems a bit flat but that may be the brewery style. In any event, the beer is very nice to sip on a cool January Texas evening waiting for the grill to get going.
Poured from a bomber into a tulip glass. Dark mahogany brown with a hint of head and lacing. The smell, especially at first, is wonderfully warm and boozy, no doubt it is bourbon barrel aged! The taste is rich caramel and toffee with a sweet cordial cherry finish. Sweet and warming and very pleasant bourbon background. It is a bit thin. The beer verges on greatnesses. This is why I would like to have had it fresh.

Bourbon. Barrel. Rye. Barleywine too? I’m in up to my chin. 750ML with rubbery black wax.
Dark brown pour with few enough bubbles I could count them if I wanted to take my socks off (hey, it’s December in MN). Nose is subtle & I can’t pin it down; smells like high-class hooch (beer). I like.
Abruzziwine is a study in subtle. The beer is like an understated wine with a slow rise of cherry at the forefront. The bourbon is gentle & the rye quiet, the booze standing fifteen feet away giving me side-eye. The finish is oak, mildly sweet malt, & a sense that this beer is just a passing breeze. Surprisingly light. Split this with my wife but even the slight sweetness would limit me to one.
Really interesting brew. Good.
