Black body with a light brown cap. Big dark chocolate, rye, bourbon barrel, with hints of coffee, caramel, and wet earth. Taste has a sweeter start with the dark chocolate, molasses, caramel, vanilla and espresso powder, but then the rye, bourbon soaked oak, char, and earth meet in a rewarding way. Feel is warm and chewy, dries out slightly, big barrel character and rye are omnipresent within the waves of malt.

Pitch black with some bubbles and no head. Probably due to the 15% abv. Smells of toasted malts, cocoa, and a hint of bourbon. The flavor is where this beers shines most and it’s where I want my beers to shine. This is damn good. Chocolate, bourbon, and a sharpness, maybe rye. Mouthfeel is low carbonation with a nice burn on the back in. This is one of those great beers few will get to enjoy.

Appearance: Arrives pitch black with a thin beige cap that fades to a collar; leggy but little lacing

Smell: Roasted malt, chocolate and caramel, infused with Bourbon and Rye tones

Taste: Up front, the roasted flavors blend with the chocolate and caramel; in the middle, the sweeter Bourbon and spicier Rye take over with the finish bringing all the flavors together

Mouthfeel: Full bodied and creamy with low carbonation

Overall: Bringing the Bourbon and Rye together here distinguishes this big stout from the usual sweeter Bourbon domination
