Glass: AleSmith Barrel-Aged Reserve snifter
From: Craft Beer Cellar in Fort Collins, Colo.
Price: $7.50

Misc.: No BOD
Picked this up (along with the Coffee and Coconut versions and 25 other cans) at Craft Beer Cellar, a phenomenal beer shop in Fort Collins, Colo. Had heard about these beers and thought I might as well get all three. Had the coffee version the night before and loved it, giving it a 4.32. Hoping for something just as good here.
Poured a pitch black color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy tan head. Serene setting underneath. Very good spotty lacing. World-class foamy retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled cinnamon and cinnamon stick up front, almost seemed more artificial than real. Also got hazelnut, toasted almond, nutmeg, vanilla, chocolate and sweet caramel. Less balance than the coffee version. Cinnamon dominated this, while the coffee was more of a partner with the coffee version. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted cinnamon, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, chocolate, hazelnut, toasted almond, sugary caramel and vanilla. Like the smell, cinnamon dominated. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium-to-full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, spicy finish. (Feel - 4.75)
Wow. Was very impressed with this one, although I think the results didn’t show up as much as I thought they would. Thought this was slightly better than what I gave it. Awesome. (Overall - 4.25)

Appearance: light black with thin brown cap.
Smell: Lots of chocolate, almond frosting, and cinnamon.
Taste: Exactly the same as the nose. Really tasty. I really dig how the almond and the cinnamon play off each other.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with low carbonation. Not boozey, but comes across as thin.
Overall: This beer tastes and smells fantastic. Really enjoyed this CO offering from a new brewery that I haven't heard of...
