Bottled 2018
Pours a lightly clouded golden straw body with a sizable head of off-white, semi-loose foam fading to a dense temporary cap and thin collar; minimal-no lacing around the glass.
Aromas explode with potent lactic funk with a woody undercurrent; steadily cools down to reveal herbs, tropical fruits, and a quietly developing barnyard tone.
Taste brings more subtle lactic funk giving way to moist herbal hops and concentrated citrus along the mid-palate; plenty of peach skins and some wet hay are apparent, with a developing note of spent sweet cream on the finish.
Mouthfeel brings a lighter body with quiet medium-level carbonation; immensely dry lactic funk throughout that declines quickly to a thin, fuzzy finish, where minimal tartness accompanies a shade of earthy bitterness.
A punchy (briefly quenching) sort of wild ale that fades as intensely as it peaks; plenty of funk and subtle tropical fruit notes to pull from this one, while the potency just isn't sustained.

2018 bottle. 6.8%. “Fermented in oak barrels with a single strain of Brettanomyces (Brett C) & dry-hopped with Galaxy hops prior to packaging.”
Suuuuuper floral, both in the nose and the flavor. Also heavy on the fruit. The Galaxy hops lend a pleasant quality to this beer. The Brett certainly adds some funk and unique character, as this drinks like a “wild” NEIPA. Hey, maybe that’s the new hot style!

L: Pours a straw yellow with a small head. The head disappears almost immediately. Looks great either way.
S: Smells of vinous grapes mixed with zesty lemon. Also, there are some burst of fruits from the brett, a faint apple smell and orange also comes through. There is quite a fruity depth to this. The yeast is prominent as well, and I can actually tell how dry this beer will be just by the smell.
T: A bit of apricot first hits my tongue. Some red grapes come through from the wine barrels. Also, the apple and oranges come through as well. There's definitely some funkiness going on in here from the brett as well. It's not mouth puckering tart at all, rather a more refreshing tart which is definitely welcome. Nice depth here.

M: This has a medium to light mouthfeel which is very evident with how quickly I've downed this 750. The finish is very dry, which is nice in the sense that after each sip my mouth is ready for the next one. The 6.8% is not even detectable which is even better.
Overall: Proclamation hit this one out of the park. This is batch 2 according to Proclamation. I have batch 1 in the cellar and I'm not quite sure what the difference is, but I'm sure I like batch 1 as well. The depth here is very nice and the mouthfeel ensures that I could easily drink this beer without even knowing it. Dave and crew really did a great job knowing how to enhance their standard saison Plattelander. Great job, Proclamation.
